Another weird mis-step by BAFTA. I certainly can't see why the trailer got pulled. It's fine, but I'm also not a trauma survivor so I have no idea if it's triggering.
I do find it interesting that the BAFTA issue the other week was about lack of care, and now this is seemingly about too much care.

I'm not a Starfield fan, but Bethesda Game Studios RPGs have been a dear love of mine for a long time. I still play Skyrim on the reg.
I love constantly seeing you be unapologetically positive about a Bethesda RPG. It brightens my day when I'm so used to seeing them be ragged in general discourse.
I honestly think Dinotopia has my favourite example of the "Unknown long breath hold" trope. The payoff is great too.
Once you start to snowball the coziness goes up to 11!
You're 100 years old. Woahhhhhhh π
Honestly I can't remember for sure but it's definitely either Crash Team Racing or Spyro the Dragon!
As a kid, once you unlocked the helicopter, I decided to see how far you could fly. Lego Island 2 just looped back around on itself. I flew for a while, flying past at least 10 islands. Until eventually I lost track of the original island and thought I was lost in some weird mirror Lego Island.
My mother-in-law always says "You never realise how much stuff you can fit in your house until it comes time to move."
Avoiding that mistake instinctively is advanced Google-Fu for sure.
So thank you so much to everyone who made @easyallies.com possible. My love for the outlet and the content it produces throughout my adult life has been so impactful to who I am today, and I'm so appreciative for it!
Happy 10th Anniversary!
In 2016, having just finished my degree, I happened upon @easyallies.com during their first E3 stream. I quickly became a huge fan, made some great friends, and enjoyed meeting Huber and Gabby during their London trip a few years ago. My now wife often described Easy Allies as my favourite TV Show.
If you were someone pinging critics with βitβs just lighting cleanupβ a few days ago, I need you to use this as a jumping off point to thinking about your susceptibility to talking points and marketing rhetoric more generally. It was right there in front of all of our faces.
Imagine laying people off during GDC.
I promise you you can confidently put 6 at the bottom. I played it this year thinking "It can't be as bad as everyone says right?".
They're right. They've always been right.
I've never surveyed but I feel like this is the usual experience of listening to podcasts for us enthusiast normies π
You want to talk to @haleyfax.bsky.social . She's a MinnMax cohort so very used to explaining legal terminology for laymen. Works directly in videogame law.
Generational fumble. What is Sony thinking. Herman Hulst is gonna have the same legacy as Don Mattrick
Life's too short to play games you don't like, even if it's your job! I love a Janet hottake as much as the next guy but I have much more fun hearing about games people love than that they have issues with π
I'm not sure if it's still the case but Tom keeps a sort of blind eye to the online gaming audience due to bad experiences in the past. Maybe reach out! It might never happen naturally otherwise! Send him a book π
The next step is making use of DPI Buttons for First Person Shooters π
Congratulations!
Good news! Consider paying for a bit of Google Cloud Storage or equivalent so that you're following the 3-2-1 Backup rule, at least for the really important stuff! That way you're basically covered in all circumstances! www.backblaze.com/blog/the-3-2...
Out of interest, how much do you think this is new purchases (like a new console to play Fortnite on) vs people just having the day off and using it to play their favourite game?
My Wife and I were saying the exact same thing on Monday wandering around Asda. I thought for a second that it had entered the Public Domain π
BikeStormz are doing a Charity Bike Ride event today for their BikesUpKnivesDown campaign.
How so? I feel like the Daily Deals are unworkable in the context of the overall Sale with the no questions asked Refund Policy in place. I can buy the game on Day 1, and on Day 2 see it has a Deeper Discount, Refund and Rebuy.
It was a really fun time, but at the end of the day I'm happily taking a proper Refund policy on a digital store in exchange.
This echoes a lot of the thoughts Iβve had on the matter. Iβm not sure Divinity should be eligible for a Best Art Direction award given this usage, and it makes me wonder how much Gen Ai was used in the process of designing Expedition 33 and whether that game also deserves its awards.
Holy crap. Decided to give Anthem a shot given the servers are turning off next month and damn. That game is awful. Just got to the infamous Tombs of the Legionnaires mission that makes you do a load of busywork. No thanks. I'll watch the rest of the game on Youtube.
