The only issue will be formatting it to FAT32 with modern USB sticks. You'll either have to find a USB stick that is below 32 GB or format it with a formatter on your computer. I recommend finding something as small as 8 gigs and using it on the PS4 to format it and everything should go fine.

If you're just using USB to transfer saves no, not at all. You're only copying saves. You won't lose any saves and you won't be able to copy anything over that'll damage it because the PlayStation will just not be able to read it and it won't replace anything if it can't read it.

Usb save transfer is super easy, just be sure you format your USBstick to FAT32, the PS5 can use EXFAT but the 4 requires FAT32.

I don't have plus and even when I did I didn't use uploaded saves.
