Today I was thrilled to unveil, alongside MPI, our new Ride for Dad license plates. These plates support the Manitoba Prostate Cancer Support Group and raise awareness for survivors, victims, and everyone affected by prostate cancer. This morning I was thrilled to attend the Small Business and Retail Crime Prevention Conference to hear from local business owners and community members on how we can build a safer Winnipeg. Thank you to everyone who participated for your commitment to keeping our community safe.

Thank you to the staff of Chalmers Renewal Corp for the vital role you play in our community. I was grateful to visit over lunch and have the opportunity to reminisce about our late friend Jason Schreyer and the work he was most passionate about.

I am shocked & deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of my friend and colleague Jason Schreyer. Jason was a strong advocate for the people of North East Winnipeg and will be greatly missed. Sending my love and support to his wife, sons and his whole family during this tragic time.

Today I was thrilled to honour the Kildonan East Reivers varsity boys basketball team in the Legislature and celebrate their incredible season. Congratulations Reivers, all your hard work, dedication, and talent paid off and your community is truly proud of you!

Our government won’t stand by when crime disrupts communities in rural and northern Manitoba. As part of our commitment to being tough on crime and tough on the root causes of crime, we are investing $3.3 million in Manitoba’s RCMP Emergency Response Team to make our province safer.

Road safety is a responsibility all Manitobans share. Today MPI announced the continued growth of their Speed Display Sign Loan Program with a new sign in Selkirk. This is an effective tool to keep Manitobans safe as we all do our part by adhering to speed limits and road conditions.
