Survey responses will be aggregated by our team of collaborators based at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada for a peer-reviewed publication.
Reports of complete or widespread failures are especially valuable, as these outcomes are rarely documented, but please share any relevant projects involving device failures.
The goal is to document real-world failure rates and common causes to help practitioners plan robust, ethical studies. We are interested in all experiences with device failure, including projects where a single device failed to work as expected, to those where all devices failed.
post on behalf of Dr. Mark Mallory, Acadia University, & Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Gutowsky, Dalhousie University and Acadia University.
π§ If you have questions regarding the survey, please email failedbiologgingdevices@gmail.com
You're invited to complete a short anonymous survey about device failures in bird biologger deployments! π‘π¦π¦

Tracking fish with acoustic transmitters, following bird migrations with GPS-tags, assessing wildlife presence with camera traps and monitoring presence of marine mammals with passive acoustics are all interesting examples for which we welcome submissions !!!
We invite you to submit an abstract for a session on animal movement, behaviour and biologging at the 7th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity in Bruges, Belgium (17-20 November 2026) @wcmb2026.bsky.social, @inbo.be, @vliz.be, @aquatictracking.bsky.social

@Day 3 of #ICTC26, the community and platform is introduced, including the Animal Movement group which is co-led by the International Bio-Logging Society.
@Day 2 of #ICTC26, Wild Moves and Wild Album were launched! Wild Moves is the GBIF-mediated animal tracking data portal developed by the Data Standardisation Working Group of the IBLS (Peter Desmet, INBO) and hosted by @wildlabs.bsky.social .
Ximena Velez from the Smithsonian Institution, PerΓΉ and @taliaspeaker.bsky.social, Executive Manager of @wildlabs.bsky.social have welcome the participants and underlined how working together is going to make a difference !!
#ICTC2026 has kicked off! π
600 people, with an even distribution between researchers, practitioners and technology developers, plus policy makers and other stakeholders.
The International Bio-Logging Society is among the 15 partner organizations that contributed to the organization of the event.
The Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW) is seeking a scientist in wildlife biology, ecology, or a closely related discipline, with a focus on movement ecology, spatial data analysis, and/or scavenger and carnivore systems.
