We used to joke in Europe that the American OODA loop is Observe, Overreact, Destroy, Apologise but I think it might now be Overcompensate, Obfuscate, Denigrate, Annihilate

I just want to emphasize, if indeed war crimes are committed by the United States military then everyone from the decision makers to those who pull the trigger for each individual crime must face justice. Those in power must refuse such illegal orders even if it costs them their jobs.

I have now changed my mind on this and my main criteria is now "do I have to come back?".

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.
