She's trying to ride the wave of nostalgia + a return to "as thin as possible" as the beauty standard

This is another attempt to return to slavery - disrespecting care work.

Everything! Like bans on speakerphone/audio/video use in shared spaces and required headphone jacks in ALL devices that play audio!

So rebellious, but for too many, they are rebels without a cause.

If you have the capacity to be on the welcoming committee, please go ahead. However, most of those people have not done enough to earn the trust of marginalized people.

Yes, and that 1/3 harmful, 1/3 apathetic ratio has been around for a long time in this country.

Well, they are likely surrounded by sycophants in their bubble, both human and AI.

Shout out to the translators and interpreters who have to be accurate in their work, and thus sound demented when translating/interpreting what he says.

IDK, but I am sick of people coddling the 30%+ and making excuses for them.

The USA is more Christian than most developed countries, and suicide is a sin. We civilians are not raised to be willing to die for a greater cause.

These are the same folks who took "15 minute neighborhood" as a threat, rather than a great way for people to get exercise by running errands on foot, save time because so many businesses are close toghether, and build community.

I am still mourning the loss of a local coffee shop, as it had great programming! This hurts even more than when the indie bookstore around the corner from the coffee shop closed.

It's good to know how to use tools that don't require electricity during power outages or when cell phones are out of service, say, because of satellite problems.

Many who grew up in conservative Christian environments moved leftward but held onto certain ideas, which explains part of the horseshoe theory as it manifests in the USA.

A sibling's friend's mother hosts often on the holidays. Going to their home for the holidays was typical. She is religious, disrespectful of others, and domineering. Once my parents died I was glad to leave that obligation behind.

Very few narratives piss me off as much as the whole "let's give marginalised people LLM assistants for inclusion".

Inclusion does not mean giving marginalised people shittier versions of a thing: Sure you can give kids from poorer backgrounds an LLM to "learn" but what you are saying is that poor people are not worth having trustworthy sources of information. When you say that older or lonely people can talk to chatbots to feel less alone you are saying that some people are not worth a social life.

This is a deeply inhumane perspective that goes actively against the ideas and ideals of inclusion.

Why does "entrepreneur" mean "a man who takes VC cash to make vaporware and then lay everybody off" and not "the woman selling homemade papusas in a pop-up tent at the bottom of my street"?
