I've been saying for years: let there be at least one book in the Love Island villa. It's a conversation starter and TV audiences need to see more hot people reading.

Same! I even started googling tournaments (but suspect I might be getting ahead of myself…)

It feels like all the best bits of badminton, tennis and table tennis rolled into one! If I don’t get in my weekly game I get really antsy.

I LOVE pickleball! I’ve been playing for about six months now. I find it so fun and satisfying.

13 of the best books to read this Pride month, as recommended by queer authors We asked the UK’s biggest queer authors to recommend their top reads for June, and beyond.

A fab list of books recommended for Pride month by LGBTQ+ authors… my rec was the brilliant NORTHERN BOY by @ihussainwriter.bsky.social - which I absolutely loved!

You definitely need a slab of ginger cake, a tin of sardines and some homemade lemonade to make this an official Enid Blyton adventure

Generalising here, but the creative arts are still often considered frivolous by a public which spends billions enjoying them, and a government doing very little to protect them.

So happy to hear this! Thank you!

Most parents don’t enjoy reading to their children, survey suggests Report from Nielsen and HarperCollins shows that parents see reading as a literacy skill, rather than something to encourage their children to love

Long thread alert🧵
I’ve been sitting on thoughts about this, but feel a need to post after the all too predictable parent bashing comments in the underbelly of social media.

I'm going to quote post this again because I still see teachers enthusing about AI. Please don't ignore the environmental damage even if you're okay with the theft of copyright. ⬇️

Gutted that they’ve cancelled Sex Lives of College Girls after three seasons! Hoping someone else picks it up because I need more of these characters! It’s on ITVX if you fancy a watch. Sweet, smart and funny.

I LOVE using the library. My local is tiny but thanks to the Greenwich interlibrary loans service I can get my hands on pretty much any book I fancy. Bloody marvellous!

A graphic showing the cover of LOKI: A Bad God's Guide to Cauasing Chaos. It's yellow and, if you squint, shows Freyja, who we first met in the Loki World Book Day Book, Tales of a Bad God. We also see a very angry horned Hyrrokkin, a cat fighting a dog, and some random ocean creatures. Oh and Loki as a bat. I can't remember if he turns into a bat in the book I think i just thought it looked cool. Maybe I should add him as a bat, there's still time...

Pulling back from the edge Publishing has a blind spot when it comes to what kids really want.

As a bookseller I totally agree! www.thebookseller.com/comment/pull...

SCAREDY CAT, the fourth title in the Bigg School series is out TODAY! This time the year 7s of Henry Bigg Academy are off on a residential trip. Can secret ‘scaredy cat’ Ajay get through the three days unscathed? As always, my words are brilliantly brought to life by Jess’s hilarious illustrations.

As a trained performer, I know I’m at an advantage when going into schools. Having said that, delivering a great visit is about so much more than being comfortable in front of an audience. It took me ages to feel truly confident in my material and even now, 150+ visits later, I’m still learning.

I feel there is a lack of podcasts out there to showcase the work of UK Children’s & YA authors. Booklings Chat does just that. - if you are an author and would like to be on the show let me know!
