an index of go your way's greatness: how often it gets interpolated into other songs. bert jansch and beth orton did it. robert plant did it. laura marling, pg six, kitty macfarlane...

i'm pretty sure rt wrote *beeswing* about anne briggs. i get the sense everybody on that scene was in awe of her.

let me tell you a story.

on friday, we will be reading *rafe*, a tale of a demon who wants to play the drums, in the theater at art house productions (345 marin blvd., jc). it's free!

our storytelling will be augmented by songs, synth, projections, and (maybe) a few opinions.

*spike* is my favorite album of '89, so i am very biased. there are several beautifully arranged, ambitious songs on that set that have stayed in the repertoire for 30+ years: deep dark truthful mirror, god's comic, baby plays around... anyway, imho it's much more than just veronica!

it's a good sign that there's enough variation among reviewers (and enough history of bg video criticism) that people have strong preferences and are passionate about them. the "it's just not the same" stage in rock criticism was the '80s, and now we look back on that era with warranted nostalgia.

i've been meaning to check out quique crudo, the casa enrique spinoff in the west village. i've heard it's great.

it really is a beautiful show. the afro sentinels gave me the chills.

written as if this *isn't* a town in which a driver can run over a bicyclist, leave the scene, and retain her seat on the city council and the good will of the mayor.

also, let's leave sabrina carpenter out of this.

spoon is like genesis in that there’s no consensus pick for their best set. my favorite is kill the moonlight.

i love unboxing. but i think the greatest excitement comes four or five plays in when there's still plenty to discover but you're starting to master the systems.

and some games never get old. no matter how many times i turn a clay house to a stone one in agricola, i am still thrilled.

this is very interesting (i would expect no less from you).

it also reminds me of the way that white flight and discriminatory policies shaped the landscape of the place where i live -- northern new jersey. wherever you are, you look around and there are scars as far as the eye can see.

now i gotta put that on.

don't remember much about pavement *but* southern harmony is so good. i think it's down to making eddie hawrysch a proper part of the group. he really brought the gospel to thorn in my pride. that whole "love light shine" section is glorious. they named that album after a hymnal for a good reason.

i strongly agree with this, but i wonder what frank would have wanted. he was so often so negative about rock.
