The problem with these god damn journalist to why so many jump to conclusions (me included) is because of not just because of click-bait articles, but also because they take reading out of context and also because these were machine translated which makes it faulty in it's wording and sentences.

I rarely draw one that is meant to convince people. Although I do have fun silly pieces drawn, those might be silly enough to draw people in.

That would make Miyamoto come off as a dick if he pushed his suggestions on developers with their own creative vision for the project, which would also be overstepping his bounds.
I would think Kimishima and later Furukawa would be like, "You can't do that."
He's definitely a controversial figure that wasn't the most well liked among the developers during the 2010s.
I know I brought him up and you don't think he was the sole reason behind it. But it's not just Paper Mario, he butted heads with western developers, would push for things people don't care for (the Federation in Metroid), and might have been in a factor in why K. Rool was absent for so long.
It is true that the older someone gets, they do tend to be more set in their ways. But I always kinda look at Miyamoto's suggestion on Paper Mario as just that, I blame Tanabe for taking them, but also exaggerating them and twisting the series identity all to satiate his ego.
He's been in a powerless consulting role within the company since Iwata's passing. He doesn't have any real authority and seems a lot more lax in letting the developers do as they please making games.
But at the same time, in the 2010s, Miyamoto's involvement with games was minimal and he only worked on two projects, wasn't involved with CS and TOK, and he's not been directly involved in the games front during the Switch 1 generation, like at all.
