Back to the Land of Silver and Spoons where cracked teacups never leak bird and beast lay side by side and neither dare to seek retribution despite venomous air picking their teeth clean of ire drinking machinations, ilk, and woe tending temper's tenacious fire poets in the damning dark raising pens instead of swords choosing ink over spilling blood healing memory's copious wars. ©Trisha Leigh Shufelt Avenoir Poetry (Available now) Image via Pinterest #poetry

The Blackening Brae Tethered, they trust tainted fields mindlessly moving about their day despite analogous threads they yield despite outliers watching the brae. It’s bias that binds their fragile fate grows fat upon their sleeping wool whose grazed gorse perceptions make in echo chambers presumptions whorl. Blithely, they bleat and swan the blackening brae weave weighted wings from predictive pores until fallacy shakes opaque eyes awake- the inevitable slaughtering storms. ©Trisha Leigh Shufelt Avenoir Poetry (available now) Image via Pinterest #poetry

The Call Raucous ravens caw bending wind and inking sky pensive remembrances open darkling eyes approaching storm, echoes linger inside chaos, pointing fingers thorny mouths gasp awe's inner hush awakens veins' blood to rush upon the ear, senses rouse tremors skin’s, knowing house what comes now, cautions its blame will you continue to play their game? Or write life's mysteries upon History’s walls, gather fallen leaves, mustering you to the call say, WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED nor scattered amongst cemetery dust discarded, left to ache as decaying rust instead, we will revere our connection- our Souls as sacred kin, honor ancestors who fought, died, and then, within find hope in the poetic, truth in spoken and written word be the light in our bleeding ink the pen is mightier, than the sword. ©Trisha Leigh Shufelt Image via Pinterest

Blithely, they bleat and swan the blackening brae
weave weighted wings from predictive pores
until fallacy shakes opaque eyes awake—
the inevitable slaughtering storms.

Sweet cadence
escapes rose petal lips
teeming with sigh
desire’s longing
flavors your tongue—
a thousand endless summers
damp in wild dreaming
become quenched in expectation
I would starve on loud hope
if only to feast on whispers
blossoming from your mouth.

Woolf is a favorite. Love everything, she wrote.
Unpacking Peace
Peace is sinking into hues of blue
slow glow luminescence
twilight fireflies amidst cricket song
sweet silencing defenses

The Singeless Moth
You appear as a moth
out of the oven, un-singed
light in your wings
never needing to lean
toward the moon
you are luminescent
a lit candle
heat igniting
my thoughts of you.

Release your cradled cries
let amens halo darkling skies
pearl your thorns into a crown
and sing latent hymns of Never Again.

Lean me over tomorrow's ledge
blaze this sodden night
with your bright tender
love me again
like a metaphor gone mad.
