Well at least his fans will be spread thin sending death threats to anyone that panned it

Speed Racer is probably the best animation-to-live-action adaptation ever, largely because it’s one of the only adaptations that dares to be even more visually ambitious than its source material.
Saw the 4K restoration premiere of Speed Racer 2.5 weeks ago, now seated for another IMAX screening of it.
A few dozen films this decade have had bigger opening weekends than Project Hail Mary, but only three have had a bigger 5th weekend gross: Avatar: The Way of Water, Top Gun: Maverick, and Barbie. Gaining back some IMAX shows helped it this weekend, but still pretty impressive.
I was such a cool teenager
In totally unrelated news I just watched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off for the first time tonight.
I know it became enough of a cliché that They Came Together made fun of it, but we don’t have nearly enough movies where The City is a Character anymore. There’s something so timidly anonymous about the way movies are shot now, even when they’re on location.
Fascinated by how this series is following a similar naming structure to the Rambo movies:
-1st movie title doesn't have character name
-2nd movie title has character name while keeping (part of) old title
-3rd/4th movie titles drop any connection to original title but keep the name
It’s the kind of name someone would make up on the spot when they’re in a horse barn with George Hamilton.

How it feels reading footage descriptions from CinemaCon
(For real though pretty exciting to see a studio finally heed the success of A24 as something to mimic; hope this survives the Paramount merger)
Close enough, welcome back Warner Independent Pictures
Everything Trump has done in the past year can simply be distilled into this
SubUrbia is a mid/low-tier Linklater film, but I watched it for the first time last year and it's quietly one of the most illuminating works of art I've seen about how Gen X became the most MAGA generation.
Honestly surprised that he (or more likely someone with his password) was shaken enough by the response to this to delete it.
This is on track to drop from the first movie's final total, but still a crazy-big run; not only is it already 2026's highest grossing US release, it will also be the highest grossing US release in general since Moana 2 and Wicked in November 2024.
After opening just below Challengers, The Drama has pulled ahead of it by over $1 million in its second weekend, putting it on track to become A24's fifth film to make over $50M domestic.

Thought of an Iron Claw joke during the Flealick Heaven sequence and then Griffin made that exact joke during the post-screening show. Great experience
Blank Check Presents Babe: Pig in the City at the Wisconsin Film Festival
Now seated for:
Didn't realize just how out-of-touch I've become with The Culture until I learned of this show's existence this morning and found that this movie theater event is already selling out shows after one day of sales and also fans seem to extremely mad about this release decision.
Few deeper feelings of doom than a dating app message notification that opens sounding like an automated job application email
I love how Farmer Hoggett in Babe is such a serious man that even when writing out the names of his animals he has to put them in quotation marks.
Donald Trump truth social post: A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. had to go check and see if that post was real and the banal herbal medslop ad below it really gives the genocidal nuclear holocaust threat an unexpected piquancy
Great domestic opening (third best for A24 after Civil War and Marty Supreme) but really impressive international start too, considering it wasn't even a complete worldwide rollout and has several markets left to open in www.imdb.com/title/tt3307...
I love how in Toy Story “Bedsheets? Who invited that kid?” actually pays off later
