A disabled person choosing to leave of their own free will is not the same as segregating them. You know this.
I'm done here.

Black people with Tourette's are getting the worst of all of it, which is another reason for people to take even a little time to understand how the condition works.
The behaviour you speak of *is* the condition. There is no separating it. Nobody, including John, knew what was going to happen.
He's apologizing directly to the actors now anyway.
This woman was basically bullied off TikTok for this, on the basis of ableism.

Fantastic and informative interview with John Davidson. Hopefully this will do away with the racism and ableism so many are seeing on the timeline about BAFTA.

You said they didn't consent to his disability. You have advocated for his segregation because of his disability multiple times. That's not my opinion. That's you being ableist.
"They don't consent to his disability, so he should be segregated" is some dystopian shit.
I'd say he should be a diplomat, but that wouldn't go well...for him.
Rare sighting in the wild of Irish/British unity. Wow.
You want to quarantine an invited guest over an involuntary tic.
You literally pitched segregating him for his disability. We do not do that.
You pitched *segregation* for an immutable characteristic.
We do not segregate the disabled because of their disability(s). If a person wishes to leave of their own free will, they can. And John did so after the slur. But we do not forcefully segregate.
And everyone in attendance was made aware of his presence and his disability.
Here’s part 2.
Black people with Tourette’s should be heard loud and clear right now about the BAFTA incident.
And this BAFTA incident is a triple whammy of revealing the dismissal of racism and ableism as well as erasure of another group. It's shitty on so many levels, and the BBC enabled it all.
I applauded Will Smith (then and now) for standing against ableism. I understand I'm in the minority, though, and a whole lot of white people were complete assholes about the incident.
So you're seeing it on two sides then. That really sucks. Neither the ableism nor the racism people are spouting over this are acceptable. Especially those that are weaponizing either one.
was at the BAFTA Awards (Im here rn actually). John Davidson had been involuntary ticking before the show started, and throughout. All guests were made aware before the show started and throughout why. I actually think the film “I swear” depicts and educates on this perfectly.
And the more I learn about what happened, the more upset I am with BAFTA/BBC for not censoring it. Everyone in attendance was FULLY aware.
I hate that they have our communities fighting. We should be uniting to call out the BBC for not censoring that.
The amount of ableism I'm seeing on the timeline makes me want to crawl into a hole. The asshole in this tourette's situation is the BAFTA and BBC for not cutting the slur from the broadcast (yet they cut someone saying "Free Palestine").
Telling disabled people how they should handle their own disability is such an asshole thing to do.
I just learned that that show was on a two hour delay and the BBC cut someone saying "Free Palestine," but left that N-word in.
Fuuuuuuck the BBC for that.
The tribute to Gaudreau was top class. They had everyone’s respect and then they threw it away.
My mother is being put on hospice. We don't know how long she has. I can't even fly out until Friday, and even so I can't afford it with the extra fees to fly without a REAL ID. If you have a couple bucks to send my way, I would really appreciate it. 💔
That sucks, and I’m sorry you’re in such a position with someone that treated you as he did. ❤️
