Merf has had complicated feelings about current events for as long as she can remember.

I see that you’ve caught lightning in a bottle, but have you ever considered it might look better in a nice vase?

This is actually one of the main focuses of Palaver's later scholarship. Here's a paper he wrote on Gandhi and nonviolence:

And here's a book he coedited on mimetic theory in world religions:

GREAT question. For the sake of people's attention spans, this didn't make it into the final piece, but I wish I'd had enough space for it. A lot of mimetic theorists have applied Girard's ideas to other world religions (+ shifts that are comparable to the crucifixion narrative in Christianity).

Additional MASSIVE thanks to @samspengler.bsky.social and @hudsongiles.bsky.social for keeping me safe and honest. I know it was a lift, and I am so thankful for your careful work.

Feeling ENDLESSLY grateful to @johngravois.bsky.social for taking a chance on a truly strange idea and joining me SO far out in the weeds. Without your generous help, I might have been stuck out there forever.

The Real Stakes, and Real Story, of Peter Thiel’s Antichrist Obsession Thirty years ago, a peace-loving Austrian theologian spoke to Peter Thiel about the apocalyptic theories of Nazi jurist Carl Schmitt. They’ve been a road map for the billionaire ever since.

Taking a brief break from sporadically posting photos of my pitbull to shout this into the void:

I’ve spent the last seven months thinking about the Antichrist, and now those thoughts are published over at @wired.com.

I think a good 2025 resolution for all of us is to eat WAY more photos of the things that we want.

Are you accepting only this specific genre of screeds? Tempted to treat this as an open invitation, and I have so many screeds inside of me.

Well past time to formally move over here. Bringing along the only tweet that truly mattered to me:

the time I started a Peggy Hill “space” while vaping in a public restroom the day that Roe fell.
