That high resolution AROME model out to 9am shows gusts I’ve never seen this model show before for Ireland and this model is one of the best there is for Ireland. Anyone saying this is just another storm is in for a rude awakening. This will be an historic storm. #StormÉowyn

Deciding to read a book a week was the best new year resolution I ever made | Katie Cunningham I read 52 books that year and I’ve kept the habit up in the years that followed, the routine now firmly established * More summer essentials I’ve always been a reader. In primary school, I’d tear through 60-odd books in a month when the annual…

It’s Next Gen era Lieutenant Commander Data on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise (NCC-1701D) in his gold uniform facing (then) Captain Picard, speaking to the Captain in his red uniform. The caption reads “the Irish Unification of 2024,” so I think we can all agree that either Data had a glitch, Star Trek canon “historical” records on this point were slightly off, or the next nine days are going to be the most epic days in Irish history.

On the plus side we didn’t get the Bell riots either. Just some guy assassinating the CEO of a health insurance company.

Lads, Lassies, Ladles and Gellyspoons, it is Sunday the 22nd of December and it’s time to face one simple truth; either Star Trek got this date slightly wrong, or we are about to have the most epic nine days in Irish history. #SpéirGhorm #Treksky

An AI started 'tasting' colours and shapes. That is more human than you might think The brain often blurs the senses – a fact that marketers often use in the design of food packaging. And AIs appear to do the same.

Twitter’s Traffic Seems To Be Falling Off A Cliff.

“As of November, Bluesky was pulling in a full 21 percent of Twitter's monthly visits…an extraordinary accomplishment for a little-resourced upstart. Or, a striking testament to Musk's toxic influence over the formerly beloved Twitter.”

Love is a Skin

love is a skin
that protects you,
a warmth that spreads

Here's the cute shrub-like type Begonia listada, w/ its lovely light green stripes. Published in 1981 (but mentioned in The Begonian magazine in 1961 & 1962). Native to Brazil, Paraguay & Argentina. Suitable house plant, doesn't need a terrarium. Have found it easy to grow.

As a youngster, this old rainforest oak may well have lived alongside wolves as ecosystem partners.

It's almost impossible to conceive just how much ecological richness, abundance, + functionality we've lost in Ireland.

Nobody ever planted a tree in this photo. It was a working gravel pit 30 years ago.

We need to get over our obsession with planting trees and let nature do the job. The results are just SO much better.

It's also about realising we are not, in fact, central to everything. 🌍
