It's almost as if some on the US left regard politics as individual, isolated acts of purifying self-expression rather than as efforts to build the broad mass movements necessary to gain and exercise power.

Pretty sure Bluesky is a haven for introverts, so that tracks. But it's unwise to assume the same for non-Bluesky people.
That's why ICE faced so much resistance in the Twin Cities.
He most definitely is not.
Weston Wilson and Jeremiah Jackson supplying all the offense, just as we expected.
Day 3 of a stomach bug that has kicked my ass. I'm feeling some better now, thank you. But after 3 days of not eating, I suddenly have an intense craving for fried mozzarella. God bless Door Dash.
Exactly. Hard to believe someone is trying to make that argument with a straight face.
After 25 years of imperial excess and military quagmires (at best), there's raw fatigue about war and the costs of war, at least outside of the defense/think tank/media Blob.
I can't blame you. It was getting ugly. The only thing that saved me was laziness.
I almost turned off this game in disgust in the 6th. So glad I didn't. This is why we love baseball.
She would have been 4th on the list, if not for Woke.
Just saw that Ryan Mountcastle's foot injury is a broken fourth metatarsal on his left foot. I broke the exact same bone last summer, and if my recovery is any indication, he's going to be out for months. So much pain for such a little bone.
Alas, with an odd number of teams in each league, there's always at least one inter-league series going on.
Whenever I'm feeling glum, which is not at all uncommon, I just go for a walk around the block. Between the neighbors out chatting with each other and the kids playing and the dogs walking their people, it always makes me a little happier.
It wasn't that long ago you could drive down Lee Highway or go to Lee High School or Washington-Lee High School -- in hyper-diverse Northern Virginia. It's a welcome change to see the South defeated again.
He bluffed and then he blinked. I get why some people were freaked out about Trump's threats, but it's not surprising that he folded. It is TACO Tuesday, after all.
Libraries WIN (again) in federal court. Show Up for Our Libraries, ALA 150 American Library Association.
Government stops fighting reinstatement of IMLS in federal court. The Trump Administration dropped its appeal of an earlier ruling which required the reinstatement of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
Following the earlier ruling, IMLS previously restored all canceled grants and research and staff have returned to work. This is an important win for libraries. But President Trump is still asking Congress to end funding for IMLS. Call your Senators and tell them to protect library funding. Head to ala.org/showup and take action TODAY.
"Libraries can move forward with confidence that IMLS funding will be available to sustain the vital services communities rely on. However, we cannot forget that President Trump is still asking Congress to end funding for IMLS. That decision is partly in the hands of constituents. Library supporters must call on Congress to protect the future of IMLS." - ALA President Sam Helmick
NEWS: The Trump Administration has DROPPED its appeal of an earlier federal court ruling that reinstated the Institute of Museum & Library Services (IMLS)!

Earthset from Artemis II. I am overcome.
Shout out to KLZR 105.9 in Lawrence in the '80s and '90s.
TACO Tuuuuesday, TACO Tuuuuuesday, at Taco John's!
Me: The Artemis II mission is doing an amazing job of reminding me about what's important in this lifetime, and not to waste so much of my energy suffering over little stuff that really isn't very consequential in the end.
Also me: This fucking bullpen
It's funny. Watching C-SPAN2, where four astronauts represent the absolute pinnacle of human ingenuity and achievement (thus far). And on C-SPAN1, I guess Grandpa Chaos is babbling about what country he's going to bomb to smithereens this week.
They're not too keen on mainline Protestant denominations either.
Mmm, gall and vinegar.
from "Sweeney in Flight" by Seamus Heaney (1983) Friday is the wrong day, woman, for you to give birth to a son, the day when mad Sweeney fasts for love of God, in penitence. Do not just discount me. Listen. At Moira my tribe was beaten, beetled, heckled, hammered down, like flax being scutched by these women. From the cliff of Lough Diolar up to Derry Colmcille I saw the great swans, heard their calls sweetly rebuking wars and battles. From lonely cliff-tops, the stag bells and makes the whole glen shake and re-echo. I am ravished. Unearthly sweetness shakes my breast. O Christ, the loving and the sinless, hear my prayer, attend, O Christ, and let nothing separate us. Blend me forever in your sweetness.
Happy National Poetry Month! /3
UPDATE: VA Central Office is instructing facilities to return to the status quo for all AFGE-represented employees. This includes EVERYONE covered by the Master Agreement before the August 6, 2025 Termination.
Happy Budget Release Day to all the budget sickos out there. Both of you.
It's kind of satisfying that the teams left in the NCAA tournaments all represent big flagship state schools -- Connecticut (twice), South Carolina, Texas, UCLA, Arizona, Michigan, Illinois. No janky private schools need apply.
True, but I've only gotten to watch about 8 innings so far this season because of Job and Commitments. Maybe I'm secretly jealous of the Twitchers.
If that's your thing, then great. Just don't expect people to get excited about what you're into if they're not. And know that for a lot of us with Jobs and Real World Commitments, Twitch and gaming and all that is not something we know or care about.
