Totally get that. It’s the people who close the blinds on the north side of the plane at 5:00 pm when flying over Greenland for the first time in my life. Like, “why?”

The shade closers drive me nuts.

Trump Administration Says It Is Halting Harvard’s Ability to Enroll International Students

The war on Harvard, Columbia, and higher ed in general makes sense when you realize their goal is dismantling liberal democracy. Nothing short of 100% fealty will ever placate these mobsters. America is teetering on the edge www.nytimes.com/2025/05/22/u...

It’s been this way for as long as I’ve lived here. Farmers & ranchers soak in subsidies, dirt cheap leases of fed/state land, benefit from massive infrastructure (highways, dams, cheap power, etc.), pay immigrants next to nothing, then vote to screw everyone else.

Ha! Fortunately, all these peeps have been in the NW for a long time. But true: the highest point in the county I grew up in was a nearly imperceptible rise on a country road surrounded by corn and soybean fields…

A bit late in the year, for that. Plus, different abilities to consider. I like your adventurous spirit, though 😆

For my Boise peeps: hosting a 2-3 day reunion later this year of old Midwest friends now strewn about the NW. it’s our 5th and 1st in Boise. We’ve rented the entire Heritage House on Idaho. Q’s: what would be your “must-do’s?” What is your favorite Idaho wine, beer, DT experience? Have thoughts but…

“Crashing our markets and bringing down the global economy is necessary and something we have to go through” is something no conservative ever uttered until a few short weeks ago. Now they’re lining up at the cliff’s edge like lemmings. This is psychosis.

🔥Rufus Gifford, former U.S. amb. to Denmark, unloaded on JD Vance for saying Denmark “is not a good ally”:

Go to Denmark and say it to the faces of the parents of the young men and women who lost their lives alongside U.S. troops. Say it to them!

How many American principles have been violated here: free speech and expression, in the U.S. legally, violated no laws, detained in defiance of court order, detained without due process, denied legal representation. This is and should be impeachable. Trump & his cronies are anti-American fascists.

Then “export” back into the U.S. it’s an imaginary trade deficit. Tariffs will drive up the cost of “U.S” vehicles and hurt Detroit companies.

Trump announces 25% tariffs on foreign-made cars President Trump on Wednesday said he is imposing a 25% tariff on automobiles not manufactured in the U.S.

“Shares of the Big Three U.S. automakers — Ford, General Motors and Stellantis — all sank after Mr. Trump announced the new tariffs.” Just spitballing, but maybe its because places like Mexico have no brands but serve as low-wage hosts for companies like GM, etc. www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-a...

It’s nice to see deep red citizens voicing opposition, but hard not to view it as other than self interest when you get quotes like this one, from the NE farmer who’s a-okay with everyone else losing jobs and services, as long as he’s subsidized in the end.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.
