3 years ago today, Taylor Swift released the Bejeweled music video, which she described as her “twist on a Cinderella story.” In the video Taylor travels up an elevator to the “penthouse” where she competes as a Showgirl to earn a proposal, ultimately rejecting the offer but keeping the castle. 🌟💎🏰

So in hindsight the bejeweled music video is pretty obvious clear.

I would argue here that the gaze upon TS is not “the male gaze” but rather the gaze of the public/fans and the subsequent commodification of her body/life/identity as a product
