Unhappy dog recovering from TPLO surgery in her cone of shame.

Dog still not happy with her accommodations, but least the Hugh leg wrap is off now.

I really had fun writing that book, and it gives me a nice setting for future romance books. It's the first straight-genre romance I'd written.

Today's word is "psychology" but I'm just going for vibes. We're back to the AH #historicalromance.

Jaguar knight Tenoch paid off Xochitli's debt but has also distanced himself from her, much to her confusion.

Took today to put together a simple author website. It's nowhere near as beautiful as my old website but maybe in year I'll be able to get together the funds to get it rebuilt. My url remains the same as always though: tlmorganfield.com.

From the AncientAmericas community on Reddit: Revival of an ancient ballgame Explore this post and more from the AncientAmericas community

Cool video and article on the ritual ballgame from Mesoamerica. It's great to see the ancient traditions that were once attacked and supressed by colonialism being kept alive by the current generations.

Worst hotel ever! The proprietor locks you in cage with a cone on your head, and has the nerve to address you as conehead. Pros are 3 meals a day and lunchmeat treats, but I suspect she's drugging me. 1 star.

It is the one thing we will be using far, far into the future. I'm sorely disappointed it never showed up in Star Trek. I refuse to believe that Miles O'Brien knows nothing about using duct tape.

Today's word is "fantasy" but my only instance of it is in a NSFW scene, so using "imagine" instead. Today's snip is from a #sfromance with androids! Very much in #WIP shape.

fmc was once human but is now an android.

Escape Pod 312: Night Bird Soaring On his sixth birthday, Totyoalli’s parents took him to the holy city to see the Emperor Cuauhtemoc, but the plane ride proved the most exciting part. He kept his nose to the window, taking in the vast...

In 2008, my story Night Bird Soaring was a finalist for the Sidewise Award for Alternate History. Originally published in Greatest Uncommon Denominator in issue 3, it later became a podcast by @escapepod.org (I tortured the poor narrator with the names!). I'm still quite proud of this story.

I don't really consider it a guilty pleasure, but I love 13 Going On 30. I'm a big fan of Better Off Dead as well.

New on the Anthropic settlement from the @authorsguild.org : over 91% (!!) of eligible books were claimed as of the claims deadline (I would not have predicted such a high number!)

Looks like the payout will be close to the $3000 originally estimated authorsguild.org/news/anthrop...

Today's word is "duration" but using length instead. Today's snip is from an AH #historicalromance set during the Aztec Empire, a follow-up to Fugitives of Fate. The emperor's wife (the Cihuacoatl) tries to do her job and dispense justice.

Sounds very interesting! Love the sci-fi twists (I'm a big fan of clones too).

Yeah, I think that comment says more about him than it does about writers in general. I love seeing my writer friends get published.

Is this a story about clones?

I'm so sorry to hear that.

I wrote my first two Aztec stories while I was there, and it was John Crowley who encouraged me to continue to pursue them. I also made a lot of really great friends while I was there. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone who can swing it.

Writer factoid: in 2002, I was accepted to and attended @clarionwest.bsky.social workshop in Seattle. Our instructors that year were Paul Park, Kathleen Alcalá, @patcadigan.bsky.social, Gardner Dozois, Joe Haldeman, and John Crowley. The most intense 6wks of my life, also the most rewarding.

is SF erotic romance (I pubbed two under a pen name back in the day). That one doesn't have an outline, but my memory of my plans for it are pretty good, and I'd written 25k on it and added another 1.5k to it yesterday alone. I actually have a finished cover for it, so why let that go to waste?

Used the BlueSky outage yesterday to read over a couple unfinished novels from 10yrs ago, and decided what I had was worth trying to finish. One is an AH historical romance with only 7k words done but full detailed outline. The other...
