To be clear, despite it being unfunny joke day this isn't a joke. We really do need help with testing.
Are you able to help with testing InspIRCd development releases? We want you!

Want to advertise your network? Our new site has a page where you can do that!

Our .rpm packages for InspIRCd 4.9.0 has been rebuilt to fix an issue where it did not build cloak_sha256 against the libpsl library.
The usual suspects are mass-spamming IRC networks at the moment.
You can block the current bot wave using a combination of the three default DNSBLs in the example configs and the blockamsg module in kill mode.

The v4 installation guide is available at docs.inspircd.org/4/installati... and the breaking changes guide is available at docs.inspircd.org/4/breaking-c....
If you have any specific questions please ask them in our support channel at irc.teranova.net #inspircd.
As a reminder: InspIRCd v3 goes EOL in two months.
There is unlikely to be a final v3 release before this date.
Please migrate to v4 as soon as possible.
Our .deb and .rpm packages for InspIRCd 4.8.0 have been rebuilt with support for Debian 14 (unstable) and RHEL 10.

The only examples available are the ones in the examples directory and on the docs site.
If you need help understanding some specific bits of it we provide support through GitHub and our IRC channel. docs.inspircd.org/support/
A new revision of our deb and RPM packages for v4.7.0 has been uploaded. This fixes the default owner of the config, data, log, and runtime directories.

As a reminder: our support channels moved to Teranova last year. Teranova is a modern IRCv3 network that runs the latest versions of InspIRCd and Anope.
If your client is still connecting to ChatSpike please update it to connect to irc.teranova.net:+6697 (TLS connections only) instead.
You can probably modify the customtags module from inspircd-contrib for this.
I'm unsure as to what you mean by permanently attached to the channel?
Client tags are just tags sent by a client (as opposed to by the server). You can send them to a channel too.
This release contains a fix for a low risk (oper privileges and unusual config required) crash vulnerability.
See docs.inspircd.org/security/202... for details.

Hello, world!
The Docker container has finally been updated to v4.
Config via environment variables is the same other than the replacement of INSPIRCD_ADMIN_NICK with INSP_ADMIN_DESC but (as with the regular release) if you're using a config file you'll need to manually fix it.

This suggests you've either messed up your filesystem permissions when installing or you're on Windows and are starting via a method other than the Windows service.
Feel free to visit our support if you want help debugging it: docs.inspircd.org/support/ :)
