I will say that ASR has gotten a lot better in the intervening years, probably in some part backed by AI developments, but they're never perfect. I haven't seen many hallucinations or otherwise generated text in ASR transcripts, but I have seen just better contextual awareness.

I can say as a professional in the field that automatic speech recognition software is older than any modern AI, and has been used pretty heavily for over a decade now to create first passes of transcripts. The real difference will be finding services that will actually give ASR to a human for QC.
