A question for those that might know. Will the new trains still have high floors as they are high speed?

Does this mean even more of the network will be prevented from having level boarding (or close to it) if a new train order is replaced with these trains?

I've started seeing this online about the liquid thing recently.

What brand / model hob do you have because I've never heard of that before?

Queuing for a bus earlier - every time I see this, it annoys me.... we must be one of the few countries in the world, where towns have to bid to the central Gov for a bus. Must be a bid consultant's dream. The UK Gov logo is a collective sign of failure, not success.

Just to add there is normally good storage to support this but it is also common to have a cheaper bike be the one for the second part of the journey.

Bike on either side normally if you really need it. I don't know how old the kid is but you can adapt a regular sized bike to have a back seat. Sitting directly on the rear pannier racking is also quite common.

Although it is more common to only have a bike on one side of the journey.

See the Durham police youtube account for some content that works really well at getting the message across. Especially their stuff on roads policing.

Make anyone with the ability to control a vehicle have to have a licence from the area they are controlling the vehicle.

A taxi licence would be appropriate as well.

Waymo admits that its autopilot is often just guys from the Philippines Waymo's chief safety officer, Mauricio Peรฑa, recently noted that when the company's robotaxis encounter unusual situations, they may switch control to the remote drivers. While some of...

Cities will micromanage an e-bike, but are fine with multi-ton cars being beta tested on our streets by remote workers overseas.

Make it make sense.

Newcastle council are taking out some of the short stretches of protected cycle lanes we have in Gosforth in the name of decreasing bus delays.

Meanwhile in London.

At the same that we're barely able to access treatment, the Government are trying to demonise people with ADHD. With claims that people are being "over-diagnosed" despicable.

This is something I'm not looking forward to.

So many stories of people losing access to medication from moving to a different ICB or different country such as Scotland. As well as titration and prescription issues.

Let alone GPs just going rogue and denying medication.

True, I just found it interesting they roped it into the announcement.

I feel like all the maps have ignored it despite being a potentially significant bit of investment with around 5 new stations.

Haven't they also said they might include the bottom section of the Leamside line in this now?
Bit of a gap for the map though.

I don't know when bins is, because my street has shared bins.
How futuristic!

Part of the funding is supposed to have a delivery deadline for next year if I remember.

The beyond councils control thing is still weird to me. Isn't it an issue with the hospital not paying its share of s106 funding for their new car park. ~ยฃ700k in total not sure how much has been paid so far.

I'm sure they could. I suspect the ongoing maintenance costs where what stopped them being put in.
Might be worth an FOI to find out though.

The towers were surveyed to see of they could be put in. But they aren't going to be.

Missed opportunity with so much funding going into the bridge and central motorway.

Would be a great active travel connection when they eventually remove a lane and build a cycle path over the bridge.

Trains and battery trucks, maybe limited gantries on motorways.

Putting the emoji for rolling your eyes at the thought of people being killed by drivers is pretty abhorrent.

Because we are talking about vehicles being used as weapons to murder people. But you seem to be downplaying that for some reason.

Just as someone that uses a vehicle as a weapon shouldn't be employed in a job that requires them to use a vehicle, even if they aren't the offenders first choice.

No target shooting is a sport and nothing ends up dead.

If anything the fact the licence effectively can't be permanently revoked shows the weakness of the system.

As soon as someone gets a licence it's seen as a right not a privilege.

Guns are used for sports. Although you may call it killing, deer stalking and vermin control with guns can be jobs.

And although it's not as bad as the Gateshead flyover, you can see where the concrete of the central motorway is crumbling.

They had to sneak that funding in with the Tyne Bridge repairs package.

This is questionable considering the state of the Tyne Bridge before renovations and the long battle to get funding from the government for the maintenance.

And are increasing speed limits for vans and HGVs so drivers don't get angry. I don't get how that's inline with their goals.

Also shouldn't the BBC have something in there about how speed limit reductions reduce road deaths and collisions. Or is that not relevant?

Yeah they were removed and replaced by a new wind farm. Now it's 5 turbines producing 41.5 MW so a pretty big step up from the original.

There's a top-class trolling opportunity here: "In the absence of people driving over Hammersmith Bridge it's not clear there's any demand for a car route"

Even crossing some of the side roads. I'm pretty confident trying to take priority where I feel it's safe. But down that road all the way to to the sea front there are way too many wide junctions and it's just not safe.

Good reminder on the need to keep reporting drivers on their phones though.

I used to cross this road on my way to school, even then I knew it didn't feel particularly safe.

With my campaigner hat on it's clear that the speed limits should be reduced and a cycle lane put in.

Why don't the council want to protect those in a busy school zone from road violence?
