Reuters: "Israeli strikes kill five in Gaza. The deaths were the latest violence to overshadow the U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal."

Life is treacherous for the thousands of displaced Gazans.

Please give to my friend Tasneem. No amount is too small. And give to others. 🙏

I'm making one last push to let people know about this online talk -- sponsored by the British Library in conjunction with their current exhibition on fairy tales. The live stream starts at 7:30 tonight, but if you buy a ticket *before* the event you can watch it any time over the next 7 days.

Lose all the actors, the dark shadows, leave only the still lifes, the blissful distant wash of waves. If everybody knew -- you never did. She’ll be coming soon. That is all.

That said, I agree that they have none of the flair of even the most boring comic book villains, and are repulsive in the most loathsomely tedious way.

I slightly disagree. I think they genuinely want to murder millions (through proxies ofc) of people to 'refine' the human species, to dominate all other humans and enslave them, and to destroy the planet through wealth extraction until there's nothing left to extract.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s recurrence of passive suicide. Disassociating out of life, fading into malaise or thin-air apathy. Giving up without actually hurting yourself. Self-harm as simply slipping into intangibility.

Old zines I liked series continues with Maelstrom Spec Fic. (Not to be confused with the U.K. Maelstrom.) This one, published out of Florida, ran for 8 issues from 1998 to 2001. Edited by Dave Felts, who was a fine writer, as well.

Val Lewton, producer of the classic THE CAT PEOPLE (1942), wrote this short story for WEIRD TALES in the early 1930s. Tracked down a copy of the issue for a different tale, pleasantly surprised to find this in the same issue—a forgotten slice of genre film history origins, in the pulps.

Deleted, because Bluesky's ethnic cleansing is always functional, no matter the other bugs. Heba was very sad to hear that Molly Shah's no longer here. Please show her that others are willing to help too--share and donate.

The Queersar Not An Award 2020 For excellence in queer SFF and SFF with queers released in 2020

...2020 is here.

2022 coming in a couple of weeks! (Like 2020 and 21, some absolute bangers that year).

Do pick some of these up if they're books you haven't read before. The general vibe of what I'm doing is 'commercial with a ton of craft and a bit of weird'.

I'm assured by writer friends that one good thing you can do to support them is to buy not just new releases but explore their backlists.

Read SF/fantasy? Like queer stuff? I am part way through a project looking at great queer SFF from the 2020s.

Lux Aeterna, a composition written by György Ligeti in 1966, is based on micropolyphony, a technique involving the interweaving of independent melodic lines so dense that they become individually imperceptible, creating a floating sonic texture in which rhythm and melody disappear.

I just want to alleviate concerns for all my authors and prospective authors that I have never used ChatGPT, never shared anything AI, worked really hard to avoid every aspect of it, and will ABSOLUTELY NEVER upload your novels to any AI function.

I am a slow reader, but it me. I am the reader.

In India, slaughtering cows is a 'national security' threat, but lynching human beings every other day is not.

Ethnostates are nazi states.
