One of the earliest surviving color portraits: Christina O’Gorman, 1913. Taken with the Autochrome process, color captured through dyed potato starch grains. Everything is already there: composition, emotion, body language. The past feels uncannily present. #photography #autochrome

A few shots feel impossible.
So many people, so many stories, scattered in every direction.
It shouldn't work... but it does.
A chaotic frame held together by invisible harmony.
#streetphotography at its most miraculous.

I'm always fascinated by the early 2000s color science of sensors. The #D700 has such a soft palette, especially in natural light, with cooler skin tones and slightly muted pastels in the greens and blues. It reminds me of Fuji Pro 400H. #Nikon

Ricci curvature as a trace of the Riemann tensor gives a powerful measure of volume distortion. It bridges geometry and analysis beautifully.

Liberating painting from the imperative of representation was difficult, but the medium allowed it. Doing the same in photography is always a miracle to me. A technique that is tied to representation, and yet : #SaulLeiter <3
