Literally the authoritarian playbook:
1. Call your opponents terrorists.
2. Deploy state power against them.

There's nothing subtle or confusing or complex about what's happening. The *outcome* is uncertain but the authoritarianism is right out in the open.

What Is Civil Twilight? Civil twilight is the brightest of the twilight phases. How is it defined and when does it start and end? What are civil dawn and civil dusk?

I grabbed the difference among the twilights and dusks--civil, nautical, and astronomical. So, for weather and astronomy geeks who haven't seen this--

“the viral outrage disseminated on social media in response to ridiculous claims actually reduces the effectiveness of collective action. The result is a media environment that keeps us in a state of debilitating fear & anger, endlessly reacting to our oppressors instead of organizing against them.”

I sent the old punk
a video clip of one
of the men behind the curtain
saying: “it’s your patriotic duty
to be as healthy as you can,”
and the old punk replied:
“they want each of us to focus
on taking care of ourselves,
because they’re terrified
of us taking care of each other.”

Just in case anyone's wondering how bad she's lying: the only people who can check books out of the LOC are congressional staff.

Library cards for use of the research centers are only available to people over the age of 16, and researchers under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian.

Trump administration has shut down CDC's infection control committee Four members said they were informed of the termination Friday, but it had already taken effect in late March, according to a CDC letter.

GHASTLY—Trump administration has shut down CDC's infection control committee HICPAC, which issued guidance about preventing the spread of infections in health care facilities—hand-washing, mask-wearing and isolating sick patients. The committee is now dead; long live hospital infections.

“Masks should not be worn in public spaces in the Center. This is especially important for our public-facing and front-of-house employees”

The Kennedy Center is violating the rights of employees AND patrons.

People in public facing roles have the greatest risk & should not be fired for masking 🧵

100 days of Trump 2.0 and what do we have? Mass deportations, pardons for insurrectionists, federal purges, economic whiplash, and tariffs choking families.

This ain’t leadership—it’s vengeance in a suit. He’s not rebuilding America, he’s gutting it.

Mike has this right. It is a coup, none of this is legal, and we need to talk about it in terms of authoritarian repression, not normal policy changes.
