Really excited to be on this panel with @childrenandscreens.bsky.social next week!
The third from my postdoc w Melissa Libertus tested a series of gamified, tablet-based interventions, and found that an intervention targeting executive function improved math skills more than did directly targeting math in 4-6yo preschoolers. academic.oup.com/chidev/advan...
The second w @rebeccaperetzlange.bsky.social Tali Berkowitz & @shustermanna.bsky.social uses data from children born deaf/hard of hearing & finds amount of time without access to language explains delays in executive function vs children born typically hearing authors.elsevier.com/a/1mop351Y-b...
The first w @rebeccamerkley.bsky.social @damcotto.bsky.social explores differences in relations bw working memory & math performance for Ss from different SES strata. Working memory predicted math growth twice as strongly for children from lower-income homes authors.elsevier.com/a/1mnuMh%7EJ...

🚨 New publication! Our registered report in Journal of Educational Psychology examines whether common executive function (EF) tasks demonstrated measurement invariance across racial/ethnic groups. Spoiler: they don’t. ⚠️

I suggested a “drink when you see an AI posting challenge” with a friend and she pointed out I would be dead if I tried it.

In a new pub, we examined subgroup differences in Asian American children, particularly 1) the diversity of math achievement and 2) what factors predict this diversity. Ultimately, we wanted to see whether the factors predicting math achievement is the same across subgroups.

Proud to say I encouraged @damcotto.bsky.social to post this.
The 'revelation' here is a bizarre NYT hit piece on a researcher who said she wanted to make sure her findings were accurate before publishing them.
This is a deeply problematic decision by Wiley!
This decision is not only PCI-hostile. It has far-reaching preprint-hostile consequences.
I hope this is all based on a big misunderstanding that Wiley will soon be able to resolve. Wiley should rapidly rectify its highly problematic decision.
Good morning #MCLS2025! We’re starting bright and early for the business meeting.

I'm not teaching this term, so rather than working this out with my students I will subject you to it. My read of this (tentative) pronouncement on AI in K-12.
1) It see grift & profit-seeking for Trump & co.
2) Fed power in ed is limited, can incentivize > require.

3)THIS IS ABOUT WOMEN. 🧵
