Well-meaning folks on Bluesky who dismiss sportsball as some kind of distraction to What Matters Now are missing a key point in creating an alternative to X: Sports for better or worse dominates American culture. You ignore enormous swaths of potential allies when you dismiss sports.

There are *so many* people - guys, even - who are vaguely horrified by what's happening today, and might be drawn into a larger, more productive conversation if they can first talk about The Game with like-minded folks.

I could ignore sports and reality TV and all of the other dumb shit I like and focus solely on my nonstop existential dread, or I could try to stay as mentally and emotionally healthy as possible and enjoy some things occasionally while still mostly focusing on the unavoidable existential dread.

How intentional will the Falcons be about playing their rookie pass rushers? Expectations are high that Jalon Walker and James Pearce will be featured a lot, but there could be obstacles blocking them from breakout seasons.

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.
