Users have the ability to customize how certain words//phrases etc. are announced. You also kinda just get use to it over time. Meaning, it’s not a d4 unique problem, but imperfection in accessible comms in general. Feel free to reach out on discord @tyleniphe. 💙

The tts gap you're identifying is actually one of the best parts about the game, imho. they allow users to lean into their own tts engines; e.G. if you're playing on the pc, you can use narator, nvda, jaws, etc. screen readers are powerful but brittle assistive technologies...
Part of it is because of the iinterconnected nature of the nav assist itself. From a design and dev prospective, it was incredibly complex to land, in part because it threaded across every dev team and branch across the entire project, from efX to environment and everything in between.
Here is a vid posted sortly after the VOH expantion dropped—you can find a couple other game play vids here too: https://youtu.be/4MyaxOM-ZS0?si=NWnNAHMBJZsezCiU
Oh, I was in this video. A lot of my game play and at the end my voice, too 💙
From a blind player's prospective, there is no other game today that allows for maximal agency, competitive equity, or independence. Could it be better? Sure, but as an engineer myself, I understand the complexities of large code bases in a corporate ecosystem.
for acute changes is part of my everyday experience. Shortly after launch, ign interviewed me regarding the experience, you could check that out, but in short, D4 has loads of both implicit and explicit accessibility features which are outstanding. I cannot speek to low-vision access, but... 4/
I think our engagement with the world is different. For me, wwearing a headset, the d4 world comes to life. I can pinpoint exact locations of mobs. I can hear the echo as my blades hit walls as a rogue main, I don't find it restrictive what-so-ever. I've also been blind for 24 years, so listening 3/
Navigation outside of the overworld assist is one part memory, one part listening to Environmental cues and using irl orientation and mobility techniques for categorization. The team is working on more finite nav assist for dungeons, though imo it’s unnecessary today. 2/
loot/rarity configurations are set in the options menu, near the end of sounds iirc. Navigation assist—a recent addition—is also enabled via the options menu. I posted a youtube tutorial explaining the nav assist on youtube 1/
100% agreed.
Down with the flew, so I'll try to reread this thread again, but Anna's arguments are...not good lol. 🫶
You've picked a weird hill to die on with D4 lol. The team has done some amazing work, and I'm excited to see what comes next. /end.
No other arpg has combined audio effects in a way that I can hear minor echos off impacts and pivet through a dungeon in under 5 minutes. No other ARPG has empowered blind players to play at the same level as content creators who play the game for endless hours 3/
Text to speech irregularities are par for the course, as tts customizability in dictionary is often controlled by the user. If you don't like iv over 4, change the settings to reflect your preference. 2/
Lol, the audio engineering in Diablo 4 is top knotch; what are you on about? As a totally blind player, I was able to complete the entire game, including uber lillith on hardcore. The team has done an amazing job on accessibility. 1/
"You're always going to be my best friend; its because of this I want you to thrive, to blossom, to become the strong, independent woman that you are. I will always love you; though we cannot be together, I will be your biggest supporter." And, the next chapter begins.
Hiiii chat,
I am in desperate need of entertainment. Books, tv shows, something.
Any recommendations? Thnx, byeee.
My very conservative, christian, deep south hair stylist told me today, "Anna, I'm glad we've met. You've opened my eyes on trans people. I have such a different view now." I think I won? I love her to bits, haha.
I think smarms would want me to say also Daniel, always Daniel.
I was just talking to a coworker about trains last week. There is no better transportation in the world! I love trains. It’s not because I'm autistic and blind... or maybe, not entirely lol.
... lol, I responded to the first post, without seeing this. NVM, don't sign me up haha.
Now, this is my jam. Sign me up. 💁♀️
Since the change in American leadership, every waking moment has been filled with fear and anxiety. My thoughts are clouded; I hardly know which way is up, and which is down. And yet, the desire to fight, to push back, to live in the world persists. I cannot go back, I will not go back. 🏳️⚧️
I am beyond excited for the next expansion of hearthstone. The rotation and reset is much needed in my opinion. I've not been this excited in, oh, about a month and a half or so.
Thank you. As a trans woman, I'm both terified and determined. They cannot erase me.
All this chaos is making me want to get back into political advocacy...something I swore off in 2020. God people are so stupid though.
Mauga, legendary 8 mana 8/8 death knight minion. Card text "Ultimate. Rush, Lifesteal, Immune while attacking." Card art: Mauga is a very large, muscular, Samoan man covered with tattoos across his exposed torso. He carries two large chain guns, one in each hand.
Cage Fight, 5 mana legendary death knight spell. Card text "give a friendly minion +3 attack. It attacks all enemy minions." Card art: In his ult, mauga drops a circular shield around himself and traps enemy heroes within, they are connected to the center with ethereal chains. Several chains are seen shooting out though the only hero we see trapped in frame is Bastion. Mauga stands in the foreground laughing while firing each of his chain guns.
Mauga is the DK tank. Mauga is immune while rushing into battle, and he regains health through criticals. His Cage Fight ultimate is a great board clear, especially if you get to use it on Mauga himself! #Overwatch x #Hearthstone
The card app I use doesn't have runes, this is a 1 blood card.
Hi all, life update: After taking a couple of weeks to mope, I'm ready to return to streaming. See you Wednesday evening at 8 eastern. 🥰
Team's 3 and 5 are made up of some of the coolest people on the planet. As we head into the new year, very thankful for Blizzard employees who pour their heart and soul into the games that make my days and nights brighter.
