I wish I could believe in that 'hopefully'. No matter what we hang on to over the next 5 years I see the league going full NFL before 10 years is up. This makes me very sad as it is
another bit of Canadian culture ground down to an unimaginative replica of something from the USA.

I'm reminded of a maxim of linguists that a language is a dialect with a navy. 4 downs is the way football is spoken and there can be no other way. Now another feature of our culture gets to be defined by the might of American capital.

It won't bring in anyone! It's not my take but I'll repeat it. After this game looks like shit they'll add a fourth down and then it'll be turned in to NFL d league.. Man, this has me bummed out

I just spent an hour explaining to my wife why I'm considering packing it in...it took a lot of explaining and went deep into my frustration with English Canadian culture. I'm just sad. I'll be writing to my lions front office and they'll try to put a shine on it like all the media is doing atm.

I appreciate your optimism and lack of panic. I wish I felt similarly. I can't help but feel this is just half a step toward going full NFL though. And the fact that luke Wilson likes this proves my theory that he was just a plant in there to soften up such a shakeup. Plus it really screws usports.

Kelly will never stand up for anything….Content always to bemoan the absence of culture and spirit in Canada and never willing to put his neck out there and defend something truly unique and spirited like the CFL.
