Today, Palantir posted their manifesto to millions. I published an analysis of exactly this text in @sciasculture.bsky.social, arguing it functions not as political theory but as a corporate manifesto for the nationalist-militarist faction of the tech oligarchy. www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1...
ah the youth! talking about the picture of course. :)

"It seems to be true that it is on the whole the more active, intelligent, and original men among the intellectuals who most frequently incline toward socialism, while its opponents are often of an inferior caliber."
- Friedrich Hayek, 1949
I don’t see how Trump will survive this. Given his age and decline…

Where do you see the weak link in the financial field? AI overvaluation? Credit markets? Oil futures?
A powerful reading of how recycling of petrodollars through Euromarkets prepared the conditions of the Third World debt crisis, and once hit by the Volcker hike, these indebted economies were subjected to Structural Adjustment Programs in the 1980s. #neoliberalism #AdamHanieh #CrudeCapitalism
This war is going to be studied as an abject example to explain, among other things, the concept of “escalation trap”.
Weekend reading. Hanieh walking us through the twentieth century history of Crude Capitalism.

The very unpreparedness of the US for the aftermath of the initial attacks on Iran is a good indication of the immense decline of its state capacity. The failure stories of the evacuation from US bases in the region paints a picture worse than the Biden evacuation from Kabul.
Riffing off of the political theology of climate crisis outlined by Joel Wainwright and Geoff Mann.
Only way for a restoration of Climate Leviathan (a redistributive late neoliberal reason) after the ravages of Climate Behemoth (neomercantilist corporate nationalist reason) is to end the genocide. Otherwise it is Climate Mao (ecomodernist ordoliberal reason with Chinese characteristics) time.
Probably this is in part Americans genuinely not wanting another Iraq/Afghanistan but also recognizing that this is only going to accelerate the demise of the global equation that made the US possible. Labor aristocracy of the center is the counterpart of the comprador bourgeoisie of the periphery.
Loss of state capacity is an important component of the swiftness of this decline. Biden represented a late neoliberal inclination (regret) at restoring some of that capacity in the face of climate crisis. Trump represents an end of times plundering of the remainders of the postwar imperial state.
What we are observing is yet another such swift transition. With DoGE, we saw the dismantling of all the regulatory and stabilizing functions of the state, reducing it into a security apparatus. And now the war in Iran is quickly leading the US towards the limits of its military capacity.
Somethings happen very quickly. After the 1929 Crash, New Deal took less than a decade (1933-1938) to establish all the mediating institutions that made US win the war and the subsequent Pax Americana possible. Those were also the years Nazis goose stepped into power.
tl;dr: more people should watch this gentleman's speech and think seriously about what he is saying

yes indeed.
when I watched when I was 17, this movie made me a leftist. Have Donald Sutherland made his appearance in full force?
I think the conversation in Power/Knowledge with the Cahiers pour l’Analyse crowd is an interesting and revealing exchange.

Being an political economist who is transitioning to psychoanalysis, I totally missed the story of Theory and Society’s demise. Is there an account of it somewhere?
“The reality that liberal politicians are desperately trying to disguise is that the people vastly outnumber the invading force, … and, if even minimally organized, the [working] people therefore have the ability to defeat the invasion on their own.”
