I'm so sorry to hear this, James. Thank you for all you did, even just fielding pitches and making connections. I truly appreciate all you did.

Made a bunch of our friends in Tomodachi Life so far, and even with real life relationships entered, there are two characters who are refusing every guidance not to end up together. This game is outstanding, I'm dying.
Given how crushing the silence can be, it was really affirming to have an editor praise my grasp of plot and character today. It's not all just pitching into the void!
It's amazing how often you can break open a tricky story idea by just flipping the perspective the story is told from.
To be clear, we definitely have ideas for what future books would look like, but we need book 3 (and the first two!) to sell really well for that to have a chance of happening!
And as ever, you can pre-order Cooking with Monsters Book 3: Best Served Cold right now! Gotta do the promo thing. www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/807165...
I've written four graphic novels so far, including a whole trilogy! That genuinely is a minor miracle in this decade, and I try to really appreciate that fact. I'm going to be a mess when book 3 drops later this year and caps 12 years of striving to tell this story.

When I'm down on my career, it's helpful remembering I've released several books that I've now had multiple parents tell me their kids loved and are excited for more of. It's hard not having work all the time, but I've accomplished a lot.

And even beyond Devon, I'm generally impressed with all the new characters so far. They're filling archetypes, yeah, but there's enough character details provided to make them all feel distinct. Really enjoying it.
I've seen complaints that Maul is too slow, but given that the whole heart of the story is Devon's internal struggle over whether being a Jedi even means anything anymore and the alternative Maul is offering, I'm happy it's taking its time as much as it is so far.
It is not just a talking point to say this is one of my favorite issues of Bullet Adventures. Randy let me build a whole b-plot this arc focused on our misfit team of villains, and getting to write an issue focused on a heist gone wrong for Diamond Dust, Influencer, and Cupid was so much fun.
It's #PortfolioDay and I remain a varied comic writer who is open to pitching originals and taking on work-for-hire gigs! Also, I flat pages, too!
Also, these dynamics are just a blast to write, and even if I never get to write the Captain Cold & the Rogues book of my dreams, I'm so thankful for a place to write some fun, action-packed cape comics. Take a walk on the villainous side with us!
Including the one-shot and the crossover, this is our tenth issue overall. Double digits! And we've made the most of every page to build a world that can support our villains taking the spotlight for an issue. I hope more people discover the fun we're having.

Finished the first Mega Man Star Force. Genuinely a delight! Never played it as a kid because I was burnt out on Battle Network and it seemed like a downgrade from reviews, but the altered battle system is a lot of fun and the lead character actually has a solid arc. Glad to finally play the series!
Jobs are doing recorded interviews now like you're an actor doing a self-tape. Which is I guess better than the places you can't apply to at all without using some terrible AI tool.
Brutal, but true.
the pitt but for comics is just you sitting in your apartment getting slowly but surely more hopeless and desperate because all you want to do is destroy yourself for less than minimum wage but they won't even give you that
Should be working on this new one-sheet, instead, I'm just brainstorming the pitch for this face-off that A) will never happen and B) I will never be near the list of writers considered to write it. But it's fun to think about!
Rian Johnson should come back to Star Wars for an Ahsoka movie because her relationship to the Jedi Order is not unlike Jud Duplenticy's relationship to the church in Wake Up Dead Man.
In this essay, I will...
Side note, I'm actually intrigued by the potential of the new Padawan in the Maul show. Again, exhausting that they keep introducing new Order 66 survivors, but the idea of exploring "What if Ahsoka had said yes to joining Maul?" is also intriguing.
Ahsoka's still my favorite character because of her arc specifically on Clone Wars and Rebels, but everything since they walked back her "I am no Jedi" declaration has felt so inert. Symptomatic of a line-wide problem, honestly.
Remembering how I fell off Ahsoka once that one random character ended up not being Starkiller. I'm not huge on old canon characters being brough back just because, but there's clear narrative juice to Anakin's apprentice vs. Vader's apprentice.
Another impressive thing is, despite a lot of the cast having moved on from acting, they all slip right back into their roles really well. And the new characters, again, feel like natural additions. Just a delight.
I will check out any retro revival pretty much, and I'm happy to say Malcolm in the Middle honestly was a fun one! It's as needless as they often are, but it was succinct, told a story with some actual narrative heat, and made the new characters feel vital. Kind of the best you could hope for!
The first sequel is pretty bad, and I know the new one got absolutely trashed, but I still want to try it at some point. But yeah, even as a fan of the games, I remember finally checking it out and being really impressed with the otherworldly vibe it captured that felt true to the game's spirit.
