First cricket of the season at Ickenham CC.
We have cricket!
Yes!
Sorry but Iām already blockading that with another blockade.
Yes indeed. Letās hope itās the first of many such election outcomes.
āGo f*ck yourself JD!ā
Fantastic news - despite the interference from Trump, Putin, Farage and their lackeys, the Hungarian people have rejected Fascism and chosen democracy!
Perhaps heās going to top himself on live tv?
Is he dead yet?
Really enjoyed it too. Will see you tomorrow, although sadly no container ships to see!
Iād seen smaller vessels before but this was a good one. Overshadowed the football!
He was mostly wrapped up in a blanket. His mum was wearing the colours!
Bear, a 6 week old Dachshund puppy watching his first game of football supporting Dulwich Hamlet at Canvey Island FC
@nonleaguedogs.bsky.social A better picture of Bear, six weeks old and watching his first game at Canvey Island v Dulwich Hamlet (he was supporting Dulwich!)
āSea Levelā indicated on the side of the terrace at Canvey Island FC
A Maersk Line container ship passing Canvey Island FC and looking down on the ground.
For those unfamiliar with Canvey Island, itās a small island on the north side of the Thames Estuary, just below Tilbury. The majority of the island is below sea level and the football club marks this on the side of the terracing at the ground. At high tide, one can see ships passing the ground!
Oops!
They keep that part of their history quiet.
Feeling quite proud of myself today. Built an IKEA desk and have only one screw left over - plus it hasnāt fallen apart yet!
Theyāve done well to get that in there!
Will do. As I recall, the manager of the Portsea block had the original drawings and he kindly ran off copies for me, which I now have.
Thanks Paul - Iāve still got the drawings in storage but am gradually getting everything back out, so when I do, will be happy to send them a copy of what I have.
Good old Pickles!
Right here!
When I was a young kid, I loved sitting behind the driver on the old RT and Routemaster buses and pretending to drive. I still like sitting there on heritage running days!
When I was a member of Mitcham Cricket Club, weād often go to a really excellent South Indian restaurant in Tooting. When in the City, trips to Brick Lane were in order, where you could get Bangladeshi and all manner of variations on a theme. Food from the sub-continent is brilliant!
I canāt see how you have an overall winner otherwise! š
They should go the whole hog - two semi-finals on the Saturday, one after the other, then the 50,000 qualifiers run the final on the Sunday!!
Itās almost like being in the country but instead Iām in Zone 6 of the Underground!
The view from my front door, The Avenue and Swakeleys Park
A coot one minute from my flat!
The lake at Swakeleys Park
Swakeleys House (built 1638) peering through the trees.
Starting to explore my new neighbourhood and very nice it is too!
Same, still Surrey Docks on the East London Line and half expecting a red CO/CP or 38 stock to rumble into the station like when I was a kid!
My Dad knew Charles Pollard, the Chief Engineer of San Demetrio. Said he was a very modest man.
