Akane-banashi is the only manga I have ever simulread or even just read before the associated anime/game, so I am excited to see it get animated!

2025 had multiple shows about post-apocalyptic worlds and multiple shows about working in a hotel but only one anime dared to do both.

This year had multiple shows about post-apocalyptic worlds and multiple shows about working in a hotel but only one anime dared to do both.
Overall most interested in the new To Your Eternity, Spy x Family, and Digimon, but for new series, I picked up A Star Brighter than the Sun based solely on premiere reviews and am fully on board. Also planning to keep an eye out for Wandance.
I've actually seen them do this many times over the years, maybe not as egregiously as yesterday. A related gripe is the release calendar page isn't using the names of new shows so this week currently has 25 releases with show title "SEASON 1", 7 being the same show in different dubs, others unique.
FLCL is a comfort watch, something I've seen more times than anything else by far. The soundtrack, visuals, and cool factor are unmatched.
Since the article mentions wanting to watch episode 2 when it drops, figured I'd share the good news that the YouTube channel streaming this dropped the first 5 episodes together (and episode 6 between then and now). :)
I started Takopi this weekend and really just want these kids to be ok.
I always have to go with Spirited Away and Digimon.
Can't wait to learn the backstory of the Earthbound Mole.
Tsubasa Chronicle being like the Kingdom Hearts of CLAMP probably helped drive me towards watching their earlier works that its worlds were based on.
(For an instance of a more direct sequel, I also had the likely common story of starting DB after DBZ.)
I'm always amused by the ones that claim to be USPS or highway tolls but have a phone number from the Philippines.
The presidential address just ended and boy are my middle fingers tired.
How did a top Republican donor donate negative $2900 to the Democrats, and can I donate negative one billion dollars to the Republicans?
Noooo ๐ญ my country is going down in flames to a fascist and the Pillows are breaking up? Dammit this truly is the worst timeline .
20. Independently listed special from a series is listed by the wrong name, such as the name of a different video
And I'm sure there are other ways it could keep going wrong if I kept the subscription, but I'm outta here.
17. Subtitles omit any dialog from voiceovers (narrations, inner thoughts, voicemails, etc.), voices coming through a TV/phone, and select flashbacks
18. Audio/captions are ~10-15s ahead of video for entire episode
19. Series with older aspect ratio is stretched/squashed into newer aspect ratio
14. Subtitle track contains poorly auto-generated dub closed captions even though CC track is proper dub closed captions
15. Subtitle and CC track both contain poorly auto-generated dub closed captions
16. Subtitles omit words that'd be italicized for emphasis, sometimes giving opposite meanings
12. Subtitle timing gets progressively further off as the episode progresses even without concurrent translations
13. Subtitle track is just the dub closed captions track but with completely wrong timings where dialog continues well past the end of the episode (CC track has proper timings)
10. On-screen text translations only appear when turn subtitles off
11. Subtitles prioritize on-screen text over dialog, with dialog subtitles queuing up to appearing eventually (sometimes giving the same text repeatedly and/or with lines out of order), maybe taking minutes to get back in sync
6. Subtitles are for a different (usually adjacent) episode of the same show
7. Subtitles are for an episode of a different show
8. Subtitles are missing on-screen text translations
9. Subtitles only contain on-screen text translations (no dialog), while that episode's full subs end up 5 eps later
1. Series, stray episodes, and movies fully missing
2. Japanese audio option missing
3. English audio option missing (on something where the dub exists)
4. English subtitle & CC options both missing
5. Subtitles still appear when turn subtitles off
Having just wrapped up a 2 month promotional Crunchyroll subscription on Amazon Prime, I can say I've never had a greater understanding of Murphy's Law.
20 things that can and did go wrong, in many cases frequently (a thread in 8 parts):
Medalist and Sakamoto Days for ones I'll watch as they air, Zenshu and Sorairo Utility for ones I'll get around to sometime after they're done.
Probably watched ~40 anime shows and 40+ anime movies from pre-2024 this year so it's tough to pick, but I decided to give shout-outs to My Master Has No Tail, A Lull in the Sea, Tsurune: The Linking Shot, Non Non Biyori, Blue Giant, and Her Blue Sky (finally released stateside).
I for one thought it was great.
I watch most after-the-fact these days so a ton, like Natsume, Laid-Back Camp, Euphonium, Otokonoko, Makeine, Whisper, Train to the End, Angler, Bartender, Beastars, SAO GGO, Mayonaka, Mecha-ude, Signs of Affection, Metallic Rouge, ...
Just started Dededede, Spice and Wolf, and Monogatari.
I once had a class in which the prof said they were meant to be companion films about WW2, one realistic and one fantasy, and cited the large sprouting tree in Totoro's resemblance to a mushroom cloud as at least part of the evidence to that.
