and creating a cool culture of "Saying No to Streaming" actually does relatively pretty possible in my relatively pessimistic sense of political possibility!

part of being a "cultural critic" is also to simply argue for things for no other reason than they have value to me.

but also if we do take on the task of "finding a solution to spotify" i do genuinely think creating a thriving music culture separate from streaming would be a drop in that bucket

been thinking about this because while

1. i generally do agree it's a crutch to presume an inherent moral value in "music scenes"... they have value to ME as a hobby of mine (as you say)

2. im not a political strategist though i do think its encumbent on "cultural critics" to "offer solutions"

it can't be the only "solution" but i for one could stand to do some more of dat
