Friends in Ethiopia: I will be in Addis Ababa next week. Let me know if you are around and want to meet.

I stayed silent on the Iran war and diverted all inquiries and requested for comments to the real expert who studied this moment for more than a decade.
Your must read expose is finally here:

I said this 2 years ago: The Israeli army has killed more in three months than any other army has on record since 1992.
CPJ after Israel kills 200 more journalists, says the same thing, but scraped its standing Impunity index, changed its language to absolve IDF soldiers of murder charges.
Shame!
He was never a mystery, but U.S. media and political elites seemed to long for a white supremacist savior to poison our information and media system and undermine any resemblance of support for democracy and peace. He singlehandedly gave both a bad name.

All just because he uttered this sentence: “If you think about it… money is more like a database!!”
I was similarly astonished years later to see a full-blown interview with him in The New York Times failing to clearly label his political views
But my biggest surprise was the reaction of people in the room, who were mostly Republicans, invited like me by the late Republican senator John McCain. They looked at the same person who struggled to make one coherent thought and left the room even more fans of the guy
11 years ago, I had the opportunity to hear Elon speak in person for the first time, as we shared the same stage back to back.
My prior respect for the guy immediately vanished as I saw how incoherent he was.
Hmmm..recently, he served as Senior Counselor at Palantir Technologies!!

Dear Iranians reaching out & trying to mobilize support for your people by supporting a sell out-do nothing-out of touch prince. Here is the person you should rally for to lead. She has done the work, sacrificed non-stop and shown courage, principles, and resolve.

I insisted on speaking in English to address UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese about the urgent need for accountability in corporate media, and the long-overdue reckoning with institutional racism.

Also on the sidelines of #DohaForum in December, I had the chance to comment on a panel examining who is responsible for impunity in journalists’ killings in #Gaza.
My 10 minutes of unfiltered, improvised speech about why I am unapologetically pro-peace and pro-democracy broke through boundaries to reach participants’ hearts and minds. It served as further proof of why I never wish to deliver pre-written remarks.
“I am willing to bet that if you let me speak honestly about my authentic experience, you will leave this room feeling better about your decision to come today—and I will leave feeling better about a greater goal: making our gathering spaces safer for critical reflection and for healing.”
“Please, please, please… record me!” That’s what I told students, faculty, and a crowd of Palestinian and Israeli supporters at American University two months ago.
They're the same people now succumbing in fear to a populist white supremacist who is using police brutality against his own people.
Reminder on #Egypt's #Jan25 anniversary.
Never forget all those smug commentators in the US and Europe who kept making jokes about the #ArabSpring failing while their governments provided support, technology, and weapons to our tyrannts..
I worked with international media to generate a major outcry over the takedown, and worked directly with Facebook management to restore the page just in time for the domino effect to unfold.

Exactly 15 years ago, I was once again on a date with history. I couldn’t sleep with anticipation. Egypt’s impending uprising hung in the balance.
Government supporters managed to shut down the main Facebook group behind the calls for protest—We Are All Khaled Said—of which I was an admin.

For the last time, for those who keep asking, I am not one of the Whistleblowers, and I don't know the identity of any of them. I also totally support their rights to do what they did and call for them to be protected against any retaliatory or discriminatory actions by CPJ CEO or by board members.
Here is some of what I said in March 2024 to a meeting I was called for to “make sure everyone is on the same page,” at CPJ: "We are a research based organization. Our research defines our priorities and our advocacy. No one overrides our research. NO ONE.”
A serious journalist asked me what I meant about my record as "direct.” Another journalist who worked briefly with me at CPJ a long time ago asked me about “the most damning point in the piece,” which is killing the drone research proving journalists were murdered.
However, my record on the topic, as I told the author, is direct and public and it is one that treats Israel and its obligations as no exception.
To be clear, for those who asked, I refused to comment or answer personal questions when the author approached me. The piece raises fair questions nonetheless and there is truth in it for those who are looking.
The Emirates exprts arms, advanced drones, and mercenaries to Sudan in order to extract food, gold, and everything else. Can we change this equation to be Emirates keeping their weapon and mercenaries while Sudan keeps feeding the Emiratis and everyone else? #DohaForum25
