This paper claims you can define all elementary functions using just two primitive operations: the constant 1, and the binary function eml(x, y) := e^x - log(y). It's probably true but it may need work because it effectively defines i as √-1 ignoring the two choices here.

Thanks!

Enjoying the descent.
Made with #pyt.... Made with a little bit of effort.
I have found this gem in the web, and I couldn't agree more.

Holy moly! There are 40 old Soviet uranium-fueled nuclear reactor cores in orbit! I didn't know that:

Univariate polynomial p_{t_1, t_2}(z) with z \in C having degree equal to n. For each values of t_1 and t_2 you have n complex roots. Each of the is a dot in my plot.
Each of them is the set of roots of a polynomial with two parameters in its coefficients.

The last step is always at S_n=1. Half of the random walks have length 1 and they end at S_1=1.
1) Flip a coin until the number of heads exceeds the number of tails, and record both the number of heads Nh and the number of tails Nt.
2) Repeat 1) as many times as you like, recording Nh and Nt for each run.
3) Take the average of Nh/(Nh+Nt) and multiply by 4, the result is an estimate of pi!
thanks!
A fair coin "knows" π.
Stop flipping when heads first outnumber tails. The expected fraction of heads is π/4. Average many trials → estimate π.

Piogge tossiche, aria irrespirabile.
