Pete Walker week! Also watched The Comeback (1978) 3.5/5. I already knew I loved House Of Long Shadows (1983), but turns out Pete Walker productions are 100% my bag.

He also has the most wholesome pic on his wiki of him and his dog, so I love him even more.

I was amazed by how much I enjoyed it. I’d heard it was a good adaption, but they’re so often ‘mid’. Grew up loving/being traumatised by King books, so always a little cautious watching the adaptations.

Thinner is next up on my list as somehow haven’t see that either!

Finally got around to seeing Pet Semetary (1989). I know, I know…! Although missing a key plot point from the book, it still managed to be 80s King dark af, so really enjoyed it.

I also recommend The Appointment (1982) for an utterly wild car crash scene.

I nearly had such a great, accidentally themed, last four: Blood Bath (1966), Blade (1998), Blade II (2002), and Countess Dracula (1966), but forgot what day of the week I was on, so have ended up with this weird combo instead 😅

A classic I should’ve seen, a classic I kind of wish I hadn’t seen, a newbie everyone should see, and a Hammer I was surprisingly glad to have seen.

The book collection grows. This time with a tiny pre-1900 book on magic tricks, a 1960 signed first edition of Rogue Moon by Algis Budrys, and the out of print 14 by Peter Clines.

Rogue Moon and 14 are my favourite sci-fi mystery books of all time and I’ve coveted copies for years.

Some damn good watches this week. Only bonus to a week of (still) being laid up with food poisoning…

No Other Choice (2025) was criminally overlooked for awards season.

I could talk about how Rituals (1977) was a surprisingly high brow Deliverance-esque proto-slasher, but really I just came here to say that Resident Evil (2002) rules.

I’m got about halfway through Dark and then stopped (no idea why!) and now fear going back without the help of a spreadsheet 😂 I should finish it tho as it was amazing. 1899 was pretty great too. Utopia I know nothing about so will take a look, ta!

I have no space for books. So I bought another book.

This has the absolute coolest f***ing cover so I had to have it.

Heading into season 10 of The X-Files but also squidged in some moooovies.

Angel (1984) weirdly wholesome with its found family storyline? 🤣

Kind Hearts And Coronets (1949) fabulous, engaging, total comfort film.

Lifepod (1981) had so many good ideas, so sad it was just boring. Made for a good rabbit warren on the actors’ wider careers however.

Luckily I thoroughly enjoyed finishing season 8 of the X Files throughout the week. Agents Doggett and Reyes are great!

One week later and I’ve nearly reached season 8 of The X Files, but still made time for films. Somehow.

I can see why some (lots?) hated Megalopolis (2024), but I found a lot to enjoy and would recommend braving it. Some excellent one liners.

I reached season 6 of the X-Files, so the time came to re-watch the first movie. I remember not enjoying it, despite having seen it multiple times, so binge watching must’ve helped.

Also, BlacKkKlansman (2018) *chef’s kiss*
