Happy to say that, of the businesses within about 50 miles of me, I've only ever even heard of one of them, and I've never been there. Nice when they make boycotting easy by not really mattering.

Thank you, Sen. Kaine. I am the current president of the Richmond Academic Library Consortium, and I can tell you, the dissolution of IMLS has been disastrous for many libraries, which *only* exist to serve the public good.

Which is exactly why I'm putting it back on you, rather than doing it for you. I too have too much to do to remember. ;)

Put it on hold from the catalog! We just ordered the print copy today -- will probably be here by end of week.

I know this is tangential, but holy mackerel, look at that absolutely stunning ribbon skirt the lovely Native American lady is wearing! Beautiful, beautiful.

I really like this show too!

Mine are:
5) Here's a weird thing your brain does & why
4) 12-yr-olds explore magical realities that overlap this one
3) That house/building is um not what it appears to be
2) Old lady sees things others don't and (solves crimes/is very spooky)
1) Whatever happens in this book, it won't be romance

It's nice to read this; it efficiently articulates my own view as well. Indeed, it's my view of the existence of deity too, really. Maybe these things exist. Maybe they don't. I'm okay either way, and interested in others' thoughts, but I don't feel a personal investment in holding a "right" view.

Thank you! I'm relieved -- that was a lot of money that I was afraid was floating in the ether. The other socials I contacted you on were Instagram (@theeldritchlibrarian) and Facebook.

@fridaytea.com I've tried to reach you on several social media sites and your website and I can't get a response. I'm starting to be afraid this website is a scam and I'm going to be out over $100 for tea I'll never see. Is anyone reading this?

Hang on... does that mean we should beat our plowshares into swords and our pruning hooks into spears (Joel 3:10)?

Had to r/t @revdryorkie.bsky.social's flawless caption along with the post... it's in the running for best thing I've seen on the internet today.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
✅ Spend your money at small businesses, especially those owned by underrepresented entrepreneurs
✅ Share this message with your networks—word of mouth is powerful
✅ Stand together in financial solidarity to create real economic change

Tomorrow, February 28, let’s disrupt the status quo by spending ONLY at businesses that uplift our communities.

That means:
🚫 No gas from corporate giants
🚫 No fast food chains
🚫 No big-box retailers (Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc.)

All the Russian bots following people on Bluesky have American flags in their profile pics. Hey, idiots... you'd fool more people on this platform if you turn the flag upside down.

Hey All: Google is pulling the "automatically on for anyone over 18" bullshit with Gemini that the Dropbox did for its AI, but I can't afford to ditch Google Drive/Docs/Workspace.

If you have a personal Google Account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off...

This might be the right time to finally buy that subscription to The Atlantic. I've never made the move to do it before, but I always like their journalism.

I've been relying on NPR and BBC for years, and am so grateful that they're still around. AP I haven't accessed directly, only through other media, so that will be a new practice. Teen Vogue -- who knew?!

I unsubbed from @washingtonpost.com for their cowardly decision not to endorse a Presidential candidate. I haven't unsubbed from @nytimes.com for their kowtowing... yet. Would love recommendations for some decent, reliable journalism, friends.
