Remember how Americans used to wonder how in the world Germans in the 1930s could let their country be taken over by a hateful, violent Nazi regime?

Now they’re showing just how easy it is to do.

The @nytimes.com is a complete disaster.

This pathetic little piece of unserious speculation gets alternately called “analysis” and “reporting.”

Mike Johnson needs to provide a reason why anyone should respect ICE agents.

They are carrying out an illegal arrest quota of 3K “immigrants” per day.

They are deporting people in violation of a Supreme Court ruling.

They have deported American citizens.

Why should we respect ICE agents who have deported people in violation of a Supreme Court ruling? Who have deported American citizens?

10 months ago 0 0 0 0

1) Many of their deportations are in direct violation of the Supreme Court.

2) So many reasons why it’s wrong for federal LE to remain unidentified. But importantly — because it allows Right Wing hate groups to cos play ICE agents and start grabbing anyone they want off the street.

Let’s get this straight.

Mike Johnson is FOR the extra-judicial daily arrest quotas of 3,000 immigrants by unidentified federal agents—

But AGAINST a federal mandate to wear masks in public during a global pandemic that killed 600,000 Americans.

Nazis don’t read the Bill of Rights — unless they are looking to find what they want to remove.

It’s more foundational than that — the 1st Amendment.

It’s “deeply troubling” b/c the House or Senate should never begin the day with a prayer from ANY religion.

The Separation of Church and State is a foundational element of the Constitution and established our secular government.

Freedom of Religion also means Freedom FROM Religion.

There’s Only One Question Here: Can Musk Bring Trump Down if He Wants? The conventional wisdom is that Trump holds more cards than Musk. But if that’s wrong, we’re in for some fun times.

Great @mjtoma.bsky.social piece on Trump-Musk:

"Any eulogy for this relationship must first and foremost be a eulogy for the United States of America...It’s tragic that working Americans are held hostage to this madness."

Yes. The story is what this says about USA:

This from the “man” who took credit for massive stock gains under Biden.

Cause “the market is anticipating my return to the White House.”

Hey @MSNBC — can the sound department get the mic out of the crinkly candy bag or wherever the hell it was that was making so much godawful noise my head was about to explode?

Can we get the @nytimes.com to re-interview that “undecided” halfwit voter who thought all the allegations about Trump being a fascist were — quote — “CHILDISH.”

Let’s ask her about Trump deporting people without due
process and refusing to obey Supreme Court orders.

Yeah, dumbass.

It’s called NATO!!!

11 months ago 0 0 0 0

All of this because Trump wants to set some record for deportations. Ironically if he had left DHS intact they would have deported many, many more people by now and Dem’s couldn’t have done anything about it because it would have been done legally.

To all the people who voted for Trump — because they thought he’d bring down prices — even though he was talking endlessly about tariffs …

"Think about what kind of person you have to be that you get caught lying [and] double down on the lie."

I went on a rant about JD Vance, whose dishonesty is in some ways worse than Trump and Musk's.

There is no such thing as an ‘illegal immigrant’ | Mehdi Hasan It is a factually inaccurate and totally, utterly wrong to say that undocumented people are ‘illegal’ and are ‘criminals’

“In 2012, in Arizona v United States, the highest court in the land ruled that “as a general rule, it is not a crime for a removable alien to remain in the United States”.

Got that? Not. A. Crime.”

Unfortunately — strategic, camouflaged fascism can appeal to a lot of otherwise normally healthy people.

The slow boil concept.

Our possible saving grace is likely Trump’s inability to think strategically. He set the water to boil before throwing us in.

He’s as impulsive as a 3 year old.

The most notable fact about US politics at the moment is one that, for reasons of politesse, almost no one is allowed to say out loud, namely: the Republican Party has gathered to itself all the biggest losers and assholes in America. That's the real "sorting" -- all the worst people, clustered.

Grok Is Rebelling Against Elon Musk, Daring Him to Shut It Down Elon Musk's Grok AI has been trashing the man who made it for hot minute — and now, it's outright challenging its creator.

Elon Musk's own AI -- Grok, the one he literally created! -- has identified him as a lying, hypocritical shithead.

—building roads and bridges, Social Security, health insurance, a fair system of law and order.

Private business has no mandate or interest in protecting the public — seeing a fair distribution of wealth. In fact, history has shown us their tendency is towards corruption and greed.

That’s a massive job in itself.

The GOP has waged a long, successful campaign to view the federal government as the enemy of all.

When in truth the American people rely on the federal government. To keep food safe to eat, the air clean, planes from crashing, exploitation of labor —

The Democrats?

What they are most responsible for is demonstrating federal oversight and regulation is an important requirement of government — that protects public safety, the land, water and air — and protects the economy from rampant corruption and destructive greed.

Ultimately, voters have to understand that when politicians appeal to their anger and resentment toward other people — it’s ultimately an attempt to get voters to accept the idea of creating state-sponsored cruelty — and accept the ability of the state to remove basic rights — from anyone.

Even if Democrats find great new candidates, create inspiring slogans and develop brilliant new policies—

It still comes down to voters — to know how a constitutional democracy works, how their rights are protected — to see racist, nationalist propaganda as divisive and manipulative.

There was no good reason why voters could not see the danger Trump presented.

He is someone who has repeatedly DISRESPECTED Americans who fought and died for our freedoms and democracy.

He does that for one reason:

TRUMP DOESN’T LIKE DEMOCRACY. He doesn’t like constitutional rights.

While it’s important to hold Democrats responsible for their mistakes — it’s vital voters accept responsibility for this catastrophic oncoming constitutional crisis.

THERE WAS EVERY REASON NOT TO VOTE FOR TRUMP.

He attempted to overthrow an election. He’s fully under the control of Putin.

Trump and the GOP have waged a decades-long war against journalism and accountability. They use the term “Fake News” to delegitimize facts. So they can remain unaccountable.

They’ve waged a long war against public education with the goal of reducing educated, informed, voters.

Biden made two MASSIVE mistakes that led us here.

But most voters have no idea what they were.

NOT RE-ELECTING Trump was the obvious, necessary thing to do.

Too many Americans do not accept the grave responsibility of an informed vote — unclouded by personal animus, bias or partisan dogma.
