Caught a red fox napping in the snow in my yard today

The flying squirrels are back for another winter!
Also can’t log in because of this, but still receiving push notifications…
Lady beetle infected by a parasitic fungus resembling moss
Parasitic fungus infecting the overwinter hive at my lady beetle sanctuary (AKA my house) :(
Watching robins bathe in a puddle outside my window
Encountered this little guy walking down my hill
Today my dad helped rescue a duck that somehow found a way into my basement…
The blueberry bushes and apple tree seem vigorous this year.
Most of the mice have vacated the house, though some remain.
The grass is growing fast. When I mow, I smell the wild chives. Keeping back the knotweed is a constant task.
More recently, deer and rabbits cross my yard, and today a couple gophers are chomping down on my weeds. A lilac crushed by a snowstorm has new sprouts from the roots. My forsythia never flowered much, but has an abundance of green leaves.
I was thinking: cool of your town to have a weekly email…
Half a second later: what?!

Sorry, post might be clearer if you substitute “infovore” in place of “power user”
I’d guess at least 2. I tend not encounter the same tweets if I spend less time scrolling in a day, and some days people tweet more than others and I won’t see all of them on those days. I also try not to follow super prolific posters and I think the following feed on Twitter still has some filters
Thankfully full time employed
Write vs read bias? I gain a lot of utility from reading social media even without posting lots of ill-formed thoughts.
I follow over 5,000 people on Twitter and had a high quality feed. (And still read through all the new posts in the “Following” feed regularly.) Haven’t reached those numbers on Bluesky yet, but please don’t disregard power users.
Love “Year in Review” and “Predictions for Next Year” season! Reply with your favorites in this vein.
Spent the night at my parents the other day, because my power/internet/heat were out. My sister wanted to know why I packed 20 books...
If you’re bored enough later today, I’m going to begin fermenting some cacao. 5-7 days of pictures that will not change, obscure temperature and microbial data, and bad jokes lie ahead. Get psyched.
Josh Riley as my congressman is my silver lining for today.
It is fall and my house is once again a sanctuary for ladybugs 🐞 🍁
Yes. No. Elementary and/or middle school though.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the three flying squirrels living in my rafters!
Or the peregrine falcon perched on my utility lines last week.
Sometimes feel like I’m in a fairy tale. Walked by my window and there’s a baby deer and a chipmunk and a white butterfly flittering by.
Yesterday there were at least 7 northern flickers harvesting worms from my yard.
