We were lucky to go and visit the new school library. We were so excited to have a look at all the new books. We will be visiting the library every Friday morning 📚.
Today we were learning about Steven Brown who is a Scottish Artist 👨🎨. We looked through his Highland Coo artwork. We learned about the use of colour, line and shape during this drawing and how using these components of art help us to create art masterpieces.
We have been very lucky today!
We were able to look through some books from our old library. We picked books that interested us and to bring the joy of reading home.
We have been interested in learning about different landmarks in Scotland. Using the iPad to research facts about them and to look at images so we can recreate them using construction materials.
Hello everyone!
Apologies, I actually never handed out the Common Word Leap Frog game. Sorry for causing any confusion. They have been handed out now. I plan to make new versions of the game at each consolidation stage of the common words. I hope this supports common word learning at home
I hope we are all enjoying learning our Scots Poem!
We currently have a number of lost property items in the infant area. Please let us know whether any of these items belong to your child.

What a term! So much learning and importantly enjoyment ☺️. You all did amazing performing on stage for our nativity and I am so proud of you all ☺️. Enjoy the festive holiday and I will see you all very soon🎉. Merry Christmas P1F 🎄.
We have explored bubble painting, using Christmas cutters 🫧 🎄🎅🏼
A mini pantomime in P1F 🎭!
We had such a fantastic time enjoying this special treat to celebrate earning 10 class awards 🤩.
We have been getting daily visit from Eric the elf. He is a kind elf but sometimes he is a little cheeky 🙃. Ask us what he has been getting up to in P1F. 😄
We have been making Christmas wreaths. Exploring a hammer printing technique. It was lots of fun 🤩.
We continue to look at different ways to understand how numbers are made through number talks. This supports the children to have a good sense of number 🔢.
We are challenging ourselves in our play today. These boys have been working hard to solve and make sense of how to build a train track that is elevated. Great team work!
Having some fun learning our sounds on phonic pop 🔡
👋 Hello!
I am just letting you know that speaking parts have been handed out today for the nativity 😊. Please can you practice the speaking parts at home 😁. Also the lyrics for the nativity songs have been sent home as well 🎶.
Mr F
We have been exploring the season of the autumn through variety of experiences. The children were imprinting the leaves they gathered on paper during their play leading us to create an art work using our autumn leaves and using artistic methods of printing. 🍁🖍️
Common Words 🔍🍂
We have been exploring our common words in a variety of ways. We have been looking at finding them in the leaf litter. Looking at how we identify, recognise, say, read and writing them.
Keep practicing these tricky sight words at home as well 😊
We enjoyed our last YMI session. We have loved singing, dancing and enjoying the art of music. All the songs I think will be stuck in our heads for a while. So much fun! 🤩. In P1F we also enjoy going to see the ‘music man’ every Thursday. This is Mr Barr, he is our specialist music teacher 🎶.
I wonder…
If everyone in P1F, could find different 3D shapes in your home or when you are out and about. 📦👀
We are currently learning about 3D shapes🧊. We are discovering the 3D shapes through singing songs and having active discussions in our construction and numeracy areas today 🎁.
Last week we had PC Finlay in. He told us all about what a police officer does. We were all eager to meet him, ask questions about his experiences, uniform and what he does day to day👮♀️🚔👮♂️. It was lovely to hear from someone who can help us. A change maker in action.
Yorick from YMI has been coming in the past couple of Tuesdays to explore rhythm, pitch and early literacy skills with the children. We have been having so much fun. 🎶🎸🎤
(This was also the day we were making our Christmas cards 😅)
Thank you for going on some lovely autumn treasure hunts. It’s been great hearing the children talking about their experiences. In P1F we have been showing an interest in the trees and how they have been changing colour. Through this we have been discovering lots of new things about autumn & trees🍂.
In numeracy we have been learning how to count, build and write numbers to 10. Through a concrete, pictorial and abstract approach. 🔢
Since starting our SAT PIN sounds we have been looking at these sounds in a variety of ways. We have been sound detectives, using sensory experiences, mark making, singing songs, reading sound stories and using forms of active discussion🍎.
We have had lots of fun exploring new objects from our loose parts and construction area 🚧 🧱🦺.
