One councillor wants an exemption for people like himself 🙄
"He pointed to people, like him, who walked on footpaths in a town after dark and may only cross a road twice during the journey."

Put yourself in shoes of someone in a oil & gas importing country
Its triage: which hospitals get fuel, which industries shut, which crops get fertilizers?

Sounds very Claude!
Even I would have thought of Dolly for this one!
Mixed news for DJT. Slightly ahead of Biden but miles behind Obama. 🤣
LH. One of my favourite long term collaborators.
This is great news. But..
I know next to nothing about Peter Magyar, but given his background as an Orban insider I have to assume he's not exactly a woke leftist?
At least he seems to favour the EU over Russia and the US.

He needs to start delivering on his promises before Brussels opens the taps. Especially on the judiciary.
Oh, wait, that was last week! 🤔
So it's official? God is on the Pentagon's payroll. The US fights holy wars.
Give him a break. Vance has been very busy preventing election interference by the EU in Hungary.
In other news, the Dublin Central by-election...
Rural Ireland forced to face the consequences of fossil fuel dependency. For some it's unavoidable and I have a lot of sympathy. For those who chose rural life and long commutes, I have less.
Having said that, nuclear would be a couple of decades away if we started planning tomorrow.
We need wind, solar and storage right now.
I'm not suggesting hypocrisy. I'm saying we need to end the automatic rejection of nuclear power that has become embedded in the Irish psyche. There's a strong case against nuclear but there are strong arguments in favour too. We genuinely need to discuss the option seriously.
Critical infrastructure points like Whitegate refinery. It's in the live feed if you want to read it.
As for why...!?!? Isn't it obvious?
We should absolutely invest heavily in wind, solar, and storage. But we should not automatically discount nuclear. Certainly not on an ideological basis. By all means make the argument against, but don't discount.
We buy it from the UK and soon France anyway!
It's their top story!
What a time to approve 18km of new road around Galway. Who can afford to drive 18km these days? Not anyone driving a petrol or diesel 😳

If only!
My big concern with Busconnects is that entitled car owners will try to use the bike lanes for parking. They're so used to taking the pavement on Ballyfermot Rd they'll see it as a right!
AI author and subeditor?
Oh dear. Oh my.
I'm very happy to see the leadership of the US and Iran suffer badly.
I just hope that missing aviator is OK and makes it home safely. I have memories of captured gulf war pilots being paraded on TV by Iraq. 😕
But yeah, I hope enough US voters see this war as a spectacular Trump regime failure.
Have they taken a wrong turn?
Perfect headline.
Fuel subsidies in a climate crisis: As prices rise at the pumps, the Government should instead be changing course on fossil fuel use to secure our future.

That list covers a big chunk of Ireland's GDP and tax take. 😳
Double the guard on our data centres!! Distance doesn't protect from cyber attacks!
I won't miss the Mississippi showboat lookalike that is the current centre. But this really isn't great. Unfortunately I'm not qualified to say what needs to be done to make it better, apart from "make it resemble [this old building] that I like".
