The richest 10% of Americans own roughly 87% of stocks.

The richest 1% alone own roughly half of all stocks.

It's worth pointing out once again that the stock market is not the economy.

Climate Coverage Plunges, Though Crisis More Dire Than Ever The scientific consensus that we need to phase out fossil fuels fast has not changed, but coverage about climate change in US news outlets has plunged.

“The term ‘climate crisis,’ which carries with it a more urgent connotation than the more familiar ‘climate change,’ has nearly disappeared from media lexicon.”

Cardinal Cupich: "We're dehumanizing the victims of war by turning the suffering of people & killing of children & our own soldiers into entertainment. To splice together movie cuts w/ actual bombings & targeting of people for purposes of entertainment is sickening. This is not who we are."

🔥🔥🔥 Let's check in and see how March temperatures have changed over the last 75 years. This is a regression trend, not a subtraction of March 2026 and March 1952. March is, by a wide margin, the month that has warmed the most in the Contiguous U.S. over this period.

March 2026 was California's warmest March on record by an incredible margin.

The mean temperature of 60.8 degrees was 10.6 degrees above the 1991-2020 average and 3.5 degrees above March 1934, the previous record.

This is why I try to protect words for when they are needed to convey the immediacy and threat they represent.

What Trump is threatening in Iran is *genocide*, pure and simple.

Of course, that word doesn't land the way it used to.

This is exactly why America is in trouble.

Corporate media keeps treating authoritarian sabotage like lifestyle content.

These people are dismantling government, starving public workers, and undermining national security, and the press is still writing fluff like we’re living in the past.👇

How many headlines start with “Trump says…”? It’s so easy to just perpetuate lies for clicks

Just so you understand, this is as if you prepared for argument in front of a panel that included Cookie Monster, and Cookie Monster asked you a question about cookies, and you had not thought about cookies in advance.

U.S. exempts oil industry from protecting Gulf animals, for 'national security' The "God Squad" voted unanimously to remove protections for Gulf animals, for "security." It's not the first time federal agencies cited the "energy emergency" to avoid rules meant to protect animals.

Nice fire weather discussion from NWS Bay Area today. Let’s hope for monsoonal moisture without lightning, and a ‘troughy’, not insanely hot summer (fat chance), without strong fall offshore flow, and hopefully early season rain. Gonna have to thread the needle to avoid a disastrous fire season.

As the first reanalysis data become available, I think I can say with a fairly high degree of confidence that the March 2026 heatwave will go down as the most anomalously extreme heat event ever observed at any time of year in the southwestern U.S.

The LaGuardia Crash Will Be Blamed on One Controller. That's Not the Whole Story. 3,000 controllers short. WWII-era radar still in use. And a lone controller managing two emergencies at midnight. This was preventable.

Two pilots dead at LaGuardia. A lone controller managing two simultaneous emergencies. The FAA is 3,000 controllers short. We will blame the human. We should fix the system.
