Rubin bags 11,000 new asteroids! This is just the beginning, too. There are more millions more out there waiting to be seen.

The Vera Rubin observatory has already discovered 11,000 *previously unknown* asteroids... and the proper observing sessions haven't even begun yet!

The cover of the New 52 Action Comics #14. Superman hovers in the air as a swarm of beings that look a lot like Angels from Doctor Who descend on him.

The cover of the New 52 Action Comics #14. Superman hovers in the air as a swarm of beings that look a lot like Angels from Doctor Who descend on him.

In four panels, Superman uses a fork to explain what is happening. “In THREE DIMENSIONS this fork is ONE single object, right? But when it interacts with a TWO-DIMENSIONAL surface — like the cover of your JOURNAL, Noah — it leaves FOUR distinct points.” Superman pokes the book with the fork, leaving four points imprinted in the cover. He continues, “The MULTITUDE isn’t a MULTITUDE at all. It’s not a RACE of beings — the multitude is all ONE thing — a single WEAPON with COUNTLESS POINTS aimed at us from a HIGHER, 5th DIMENSION. We have to hit ALL of them at the same time.”

Superman flies through a snowstorm, thinking “BEAUTIFUL snowstorm! Man, it’s great to be BACK! One of the things I MISS in space is the weather…” (A voice from below is less appreciative, saying “Doesn’t matter where I park, blasted SNOW PLOWS always bury my car!”)

We now see Superboy full length, hovering about six inches above the ground. “… when the BLASTEE isn’t GROUNDED!” “Mmm! A mild, TINGLY sensation — not unlike a BREATH MINT!”

"I injected chemicals into myself so that I can radiate green rays that turn everything nearby temporari GREEN! It'd be great camouflage!"
Sun Boy replies, "Many planets have red or yellow vegetation, not green as on Earth, and it wouldn't work there! Sorry, we can't use you!"

Pete Ross, Lana Lang, and Lex Luthor are sitting together in the front seat of a car. Lex, driving, says “I don’t know … I have theorized that ONE-WAY communication with the future might be possible by bouncing a radio beam off a distant planet, so that it would return to Earth hundreds or even thousands of years in the future. I won’t GUARANTEE anything but it’s sure worth a TRY!!”

In the left panel, Black Squadron is being shown around Megalox by the warden. She says “I understand that you intend to meet with one of our more… NOTABLE… prisoners. Grakkus the Hutt. That’s fine, of course— but first, I feel it is my duty to inform you of the way things work around here.” The right panel shows her gloved hand gesturing towards the planet below. “Or more specifically, down there. The enormous size and high density of the planet generate a gravitational field ten times standard.”

A close up of the prison on the surface of the planet, covered by a force-field dome. The captions read “And so, Megalox has no exterior walls. It doesn’t need them. Step outside the standard grav-field dome generated from orbit by this station, and you are instantly crushed under ten times your own weight.”

My 5-yr old: "Tell me more about black holes."
Me: "There's one at the centre of our galaxy called Sagittarius A*. It's the biggest thing in the galaxy."
5-yo: "No it isn't. 'UY Scuti' is bigger."
Me: "UY Scuti is the biggest STAR, but... let me look it up."

*Looks it up*

Me: "Yep, you're right."

No more simplistic 101 stuff" to the students. The caption below the comic reads "in advanced physics, you learn about perfectly spherical cows *under rotation.*"

I realized after I drew this that I got the right hand rule wrong. But this is advanced physics, OK?
