Truly remarkable how many people have told the Pope, in some way or another, to "shut up and dribble." Or corrected him on the Bible, despite their thin education on theology. Or told him to stay out of US affairs, despite him being a US citizen. The hubris is amazing.
I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
thank you — this is a very helpful statement, since I’ve been reading about trans and queer disruption of the “chrononormativity” that structures time and life cycles (cis and hetero time)
Wow.
Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous
Walz: I think Kristi Noem probably should go back to South Dakota, not have any dogs, and just kind of ride things out
I cannot imagine the devastation this family is experiencing today. This statement is powerful and must be read.
This is a test for Democrats right now.
If you really want to grab the mantle of leadership and emerge as a frontrunner, you have to speak out forcefully and against ICE...
Right now.
No centrist mealy-mouthed bullshit.
Good, so glad you're leading this charge. She must go.
Four generations of my family have served our country. Service is in my blood. The President wouldn’t know anything about that.
The CBS investigation portrays a modern concentration camp, similar to the Soviet GULAG (like CECOT, an acronym): sadistic guards, 24 hour lighting, isolation cells.
Americans once opposed this inhumane system.
The Trump administration sent innocent people there to suffer.
are you an artist yourself or do you just interpret other people’s art?
you probably already know this — but for independent schools, use Carney Sandoe — I used to be Dean of Faculty at a girls’
school, and we found most of our hires through CS
This kid is brilliant. Voice of a generation.
Grandma hated fancy things, so I only talk to her on this Ouija Board I drew on the back of a Denny’s menu
good question, and among some scholars, absolutely. Alison Weber's work on Teresa of Avila shows this balance at its best.
so typical of this regime’s pride in crassness
this narrative denies women agency, ignoring feminist methodology. Authors have found women’s participation in art making, such as Ginevra de Benci’s role in Leonardo’s portrait. Sofonisba subverted patriarchal norms, but we can trace her success without rehearsing a story of women’s disempowerment
🎨 Sofonisba Anguissola was a highly respected painter & teacher at a time when women were regarded as objects or madonnas to be represented in #art - not as artists themselves.

that's great to hear! I hope the Met has a huge success with it.
A screenshot of two tweets from the Politico reporter Joe Anuta. The 1st: ".@NYCMayor elaborates on his comments yesterday that boys and girls should not use the same bathroom. He says he will review the policy of his own education department, which allows students to use restrooms “consistent with their gender identity” and potentially change it" 2nd: "He says students whose sex at birth differs should never be allowed to use the bathroom at the same time, regardless of gender identity"
Awful and dangerous to hear the Mayor echo the transphobic bigotry coming from the Trump administration. It's completely at odds with the values of our city and another reason why his single, disgraced term in office cannot end soon enough.
perfect, thank you
this is wise advice
my Lab stole banana bread out of my hand when I was having a seizure
Wow, that drawing and poem made my stomach drop. It’s not ambiguous… & the idea of him sending that kind of overt, public message makes me ill
wishing you the best!
