The surgery is nothing too scary. You’re conscious but numb, more tedious than anything. Healing sucks for like 2-4 days. It’s a bit early in my experience but I do recommend it if it’s in your budget. Even after insurance, (fuck this country’s health care) in total I’m out like ~$4500 I think?

It definitely dramatically slowed (maybe stopped?) the progression in my right eye, which I had done in early summer. It takes about 3 months to fully heal and “set” into a stable prescription. Left eye was done last Thursday, pain is completely gone now and it’s just blurry, each day gets better—>

obsessed with this because putting on a bald cap instead of shaving your head is less like solidarity and more like “this is what you look like to me”

I love that this dropped days after I had my second crosslinking surgery for keratoconus. I’m fortunate to have caught it somewhat early and it wasn’t as aggressive as @grahamisador.bsky.social‘s case but nonetheless I feel very seen (lol?) right now. Excited to hear the rest of the series!
