Over 7 lbs! Definitely not "light reading". I've had it next to the desk the last 2 weeks for work and was legit worried the cats were gonna use it for a scratching post!

@rainesz.bsky.social Since we were talking about this- here's your Elasti-Girl art reappearing in the gargantuan 2nd WHO'S WHO Omnibus (1200+ pgs)! She kinda got the Uncle Buck treatment, hidden behind the fold, but still- cover!

A ★★★★ review of Doctor Who: The Celestial Toymaker (2024) Well dang... the new Celestial Toymaker animation is... actually kinda great. Maybe even one of the best "reconstructions" (though it's barely that) ever done. First, the obvious elephant-in-the room:...

It's fantastic (and something that'll still be precious if eps 1-3 turn up). A lot of fans got it so wrong with the kneejerk response to the animation style. I gave it a (very long) rave over here: letterboxd.com/jerseydevill...

Getting axed from Marvel ended up being the best thing to ever happen to Gunn. Love the Guardians, but his DC era is so much more his actual voice- the same brilliant maniac behind TROMEO & JULIET, SUPER etc. You'd never get anything as edgy and earnest as the G.I. Robot origin story in the MCU.

Same- we axed ours today. I also won't be paying for anything from Marvel etc until their overlords fix their hearts (and spine). "Preempted Indefinitely" cuts both ways. I'm actually glad the DW deal is all but officially dead now.

Artists also need to stop taking gigs from them.

A review of I Know Catherine, the Log Lady (2025) Objectivity on this one's impossible, as I'm one of many fan artists the production reached out to over the long production of this (I made the final cut, yay). And coincidentally, a backer (we finall...

I'm in this! My artwork, anyway (for about two seconds).

Shameless plug for me n' Matt Frank's series Miss Medusa's Monstrous Menagerie, which is all-in on environments. I showed my work to a US publisher once years ago and their comment was, "no-one wants to see that architecture s***". He's not in the industry anymore. ;)

It was rare for Jack Kirby to handle characters he hadn't created, but he absolutely nailed Sam Wilson (the Falcon) in his 70s run of Captain America.

With all the reality-meddling in the last 2 years of Doctor Who, RTD slipped one of the craziest implications under the radar: Dimensions in Time happened and the meta-aware Time Lady who survived the extermination of the Time Lords by changing her DNA.... looks a lot like Angie from Eastenders.

I'm hoping Susan is the mega-arc of RTD2's tenure (if we get more of it). Both seasons have made a point about her fate being a mystery. We already have another(?) multi-Doctor tease going with "The Boss".

Also, I'd love to know if the vision of Rogue was real or just Conrad/Rani ratf***ery.

He's connected to Earth in way he never was to Gallifrey (outside of a very small number of lost souls, like Susan). He's quick to give love but not accept it and maybe at the end he's a little better about that. The new face, maybe, is an acceptance of formerly denied human connection? (end)

The Rani actually gets under his skin a little with wanting to see Omega. Part of him wants his (awful and abusive) "real" family back. But in the end he realizes "the Biggest Family on Earth" (Sarah Jane's words), the one he chose, is the real one for him. (cont)...

My headcanon: all the baby/family themes are 15 being the first incarnation to come to terms with being an orphan. He shows up with "I'm adopted" and "I've got no-one" as statements that haunt him. For some reason, he keeps the Nobles/ Sundays/ UNIT at a distance, despite the hugs. (cont.)...
