I did a thing! I’m very pleased with this mount that I made to hold the fabulous present I received for my birthday back in January.
I hope it does justice to the wonderful people who clubbed together to buy it for me.

When you love playing with the drill of the British Army in the early 19th Century so much that you create your own blocks to do it.
Then decide that’s not realistically enough so continue and “recruit” a whole company! “Why are you the way that you are?” springs to mind again 😂
Members of F26 Bethnal Green’s, Green Watch received their King’s Coronation Medal today the Tower of London.

I can’t be sure of the dates as I didn’t make any notes back when the below pictures were taken.
I’m certain they must be from late ‘05 or early ‘06, almost 20 years ago. What a ride it’s been since!
All taken in the vicinity of Basra, Iraq, Op Telic 7 with D Sqn, SCOTS DG. I was 20 years old.
Good experience gained and great work done on a large multi agency exercise today. It’s always excellent to see London’s first responders working together to resolve what can be difficult and protracted incidents.
Crews from F26 Bethnal Green acquitted themselves admirably.
On this day in 1814 the Battle of Brienne was fought during the War of the Sixth Coalition. Despite the Allies ceding the field to Napoleon, he could not prevent Russian and Prussian forces, commanded by Blucher later linking up with Schwarzenberg’s Austrians.
“Friends that play (in castles) together, stay together”. An excellent day was had on Friday adventuring in Windsor, a home of the British Royal family since the 12th Century, with the Emperor of Napoleonic Nerds himself, @zwhitehistory.bsky.social
January’s book haul so far with another on the way which I’m very excited about. Some are to help with my living history impression, some are for research for @napwarspod.bsky.social , but all are for fun! “We’re gonna need a bigger shelf!”
What an incredible 40th birthday it’s been. I am completely surprised at the kindness and generosity of the have best people in my world. I could never have imagined the history nerd journey of the last few years. You know who you are and I’ll be in touch properly very soon.
