That's amazing. Really curious to see how it turns out. I've been obsessed with the tech since I experienced the rig at Disney. Never had the time to really try replicating it.

Are you running this off IOSONO?
You're building a wave guide?!?! I need details
What do you host your site on? Could you self host the videos? I have webm's hosted on the same server as the site and then fallback to vimeo if they don't work.
One off pages like this remind me of the old internet. No ads, no trackers, no scripts. Just text formatted on a page.
I had a dream last night that seized me. I had to write something about it, I don't know if it's meaningful but it felt like it could be.
Here's a short piece about reaching the end and it's different then you were told.

Here here to that dude
Apparently the composer also wrote the thing while RECOVERING FROM A BRAIN HEMMORRHAGE!?!?! I saw an article that he did a huge chunk of it while recovering in the hospital.
I love your conference!
I see you and I had similar ideas regarding bovine implements recently
I did not but we did have a dedicated laundry basket for bathing infants in. Kept them contained, allowed us to use a lower water level, was wonderful haha
You too my dude, all the love to you and the fam <3
You're not far off.

How's your day going?

7) Idiomatic writing is super important! If you write difficult parts it will take up more of the players time.
8) Get a good engraver. Shout out to @polybrow.co.uk for being an absolute rock star. And Composer Press for making me some beautiful printed scores.
6) Remember to advocate for what you want. I wanted stereo sections for everything and some of them ended up being mono due to a judgement call by the lead engineer. It still sounds great but it was a bummer for me.
5) Take your time finding the musicians you want to work with and trust them. I was blown away by how much of the stuff we did they accomplished in one take. The only thing that took multiples was because of the aforementioned headphone issue.
3) Tech issues will happen and you need to bake that into your time. We had a headphone distribution issue that ate up 30 minutes and our strings ran a bit over time.
4) Having a contractor between you/the production and the orchestra/studio is worth it's weight in gold.
1) Don't write sustains for Tuba and Bass Trombone that last 16+ bars if you only have two players. That's rude.
2) Make sure you have enough parts for each performer, while it's not a big issue, it's not fun to have a trumpet section or bass trombone sit there for 3/4 of the session.
On Monday I had my first orchestral recording session since college and I'm still over the moon. I can't believe it happened. The recordings turned out so well. I thought I'd share a few things that I learned so I can do better next time and maybe help inform some others: (1/x)
