Wow! Yes, massive props to the whistleblower for being honest with the public. This story is insane

This is Cody, 1 of the first 6 US service members killed in retaliation strikes from Iran. He was kind, smart, funny and he was my cousin. We played video games together as kids. He & others are absolutely not acceptable losses or necessary casualties in an unjustified war. #endthiswarnow #humanist

The SAVE act is blatant voter suppression and will prevent millions of eligible Americans from voting.

Tell your representatives to vote NO on the SAVE act: social.demcast.com/s/QlpF1MmU

Sitting on hold waiting for a customer support agent always reminds me of The Office when Jim & Dwight made a sale by calling Dunder Mifflin and Kelly answering the phone immediately after the competitor had them on hold forever. That pitch would 100% work on me

Character A: That protest wasn't enough! We need to do more!
B: Stop! This kind of talk actually hurts our cause. I know what you're trying to do. You think if you say:
A: We need to do more than we did!
Group, looking motivated: Ok! Let's do more!
or,
A: That action made a big difference.
Group, walking away: Well, we did it! Everyone go home.

Everyone go home.

B: People are the most motivated when they can see their actions causing an immediate change and positive effect. And they won't want to repeat actions they think didn't have a big effect.
A simple graph shows a stick figure getting demotivated when the time to reach their result is too long.
So this is the real effect of your words:
A: We need to do more than we did!
Group, concerned: That didn't do anything? Maybe my actions don't really matter...
A: That action made a big difference.
Group, celebrating: Maybe my actions really matter! What should we do next?

The fascists WIN by making us think we are POWERLESS.

It's natural to think that the perfect event, if BIG and STRONG enough, will solve everything overnight.

Panel of a simple illustration of an X-Wing from Star Wars flying away from the exploding Death Star.

But this is a myth. One person alone has a small skillset, a small sphere of influence, and a small impact. The event that finally tips the scale may feel like a special event that finally did something different. But it isn't special.

An illustration of a scale with two piles of sand, the pile of gray sand on the left is larger and tips the scale.

Change WILL come from the sum total of all our small actions added together.

In the next panel the pile of rainbow sand on the right has become larger and tips the scale in the opposite direction.

So I guess I've gone and drawn a political comic!

I didn't like the discussion happening around the recent protest so I wrote a minicomic about it.

There might be more. I have ideas for more.

Love this!!! Thank you so much for making it! It's so important to celebrate big & small wins to remind volunteers that the work matters

Accessibility is often taken for granted.

We're good at spotting barriers that we had to overcome. We don't always notice the places where a barrier was removed or lowered to make our path easier.

The FTC One-Click Cancel rule goes into effect in July! I cancelled a subscription yesterday that required a 30-word explanation for why I was cancelling.

I used the form to tell them that their cancellation flow risks violating federal law 😁

Thank you Lina Khan! (former FTC chair)

Abrego Garcia indictment led top federal prosecutor in Tennessee to resign: Sources

Wow. What a sign that criminal case against Abrego Garcia may be politically cooked up.

"Schrader’s resignation was prompted by concerns that the case was being pursued for political reasons"

Schrader spent 15 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nashville and was chief of the criminal division

Two former Wells Fargo executives were fined $8.5M by the Biden administration for covering up the bank's infamous fake account scandal.

Trump just slashed those fines to a paltry $150,000 after Wells Fargo gave $1M to his inauguration.

See how this works?

worth reiterating that in literally any other context a 10% tariff on Japan alone would be getting wall to wall financial news coverage, would be considered the largest trade war escalation in modern American history and the dumbest economic policy move by a President in decades

Constituents to Chuck Grassley: "Are you bringing back that guy from El Salvador?"

Senior Citizen: “If I get an order to pay a ticket to pay $1200 and I just say ‘no’, does that stand up? Because he just got an order from the Supreme Court and he just said ‘screw it’”

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

From an operational security perspective, this is the highest level of fuckup imaginable. These people cannot keep America safe.

We expected 2,000 people out in GOP-held Greeley, Colorado.

11,000 people showed up.

Something special is happening, folks. Now is the time to organize in every dimension possible and get to work.

I think some top-level configuration options would help as well. “PMsky will be customizable. You can review every suggestion manually or automatically apply labels when enough users suggest it” (if that’s something you have in mind)

My first thought was, “what about bots & trolls?” If PMsky can be limited to a team of approved users, I would mention that as well. Like “Or recruit specific trusted users to vote on labels.”

Suggestion: First sentence should get straight to the point in non-technical terms.

Maybe “With PMsky, Bluesky labels can be determined by public consensus. Labelers can let the community help moderate content and avoid relying on individual opinions.”

If you haven’t started converting images to AVIF on your website, you’re missing out!

The compression is SO much better than JPG & WebP. Plus it supports animation!! I replaced a 400kb GIF with a 28kb AVIF 🥳

Yes!! Thank you for sharing! It’s rarely a major problem, but when it does matter it’s such a headache trimming the extra vertical space around text boxes.
