Honestly there need to be less seminars and workshops on AI adoption and more on ethics and etiquette
Do: Use AI to check grammar and tone of the email you wrote; if you want to.
Don’t: Let AI generate the email for you. AI writing is incredibly long winded and you would be incredibly rude to expect recipients to take the time to read an overly long email that you didn’t take the time to write
The issue with someone admitting they use ChatGPT to write interpersonal messages is that now I have zero way to know if 2% or 99% of it is actually their own thoughts and words. It just destroys trust in a way autocorrect or spellcheck doesn’t.
Trump's nominee for Fed chair, Kevin Warsh, had his confirmation hearing yesterday. He needed to answer 2 questions:
1) Is Trump’s criminal investigation into Powell appropriate?
2) What would Warsh do if Trump threatened retribution against *him* as well?
He couldn't answer 1. Wasn't even asked 2.
‘They will need some sort of quality control and editorial function," [Wernick, former Privy Council clerk] said. "But it is not like the first drafts produced by human staff were perfect.”’
Perfection is the wrong standard for assessing the use of genAI to answer constituents’ correspondence.
This is a terrible idea, not (just) because of accuracy concerns, but because it further isolates officials, including the PM, from actual Canadians, and vice versa. It’s a sign of disrespect to voters and citizens, and it reduces the exposure of Official Ottawa to Canadians’ concerns and fears.
It’s much, much worse than simple form letters, because everyone understands that form letters are impersonal. The goal will be to make it sound like the PM is actually writing the letter, because that’s what genAI is used for. That’s a deception. Bluntly, this tech is designed to trick Canadians.

How does a law firm that bills $1,000 to $2,000 an hour submit AI generated legal documents that no one reviewed?
The amount of blatantly shoddy work being delivered in the name of AI adoption is quite embarrassing.
Ford's "Challenger jet would only have been able to use 19 of Ontario's 179 operational airports based on the distance it needs to take off at its maximum weight and the length of available runways." (And of those, nearly all have regular commercial service.) www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Weird how Doug Ford just Keeps Showing Up in cases of random Ontario corruption and self-dealing elites, like in this story about a construction union head who got the union to buy him a 4-million dollar home.

Hallucinated citations are polluting the scientific literature. What can be done? Tens of thousands of publications from 2025 might include invalid references generated by AI, a Nature analysis suggests.
That's tens of thousands of authors whose submissions can be desk-rejected from here on out, leaving some more room for the rest of us.

Experts say it’s highly unusual for the White House to tell agents to give up custody of potential evidence in an investigation, as it did with the Tates.
“I’ve never heard of anything like that in my 30 years working,” an ex-DHS official said.

Cleated Rivalry.
One pitch. Ridiculous.
Like, if you were going to script a closer controversy, this is exactly how it would go.
Meanwhile, #Bluejays have won three straight after going 7-13.
Last year, #Jays went 7-13 in Apr/May and came out of it with four straight wins on the way to the division title.
“There is no donor class lobbying for disabled children’s access to the public school down the street. There is only a Premier’s calculation of which parents she needs and which she does not.”

Matt Damon playing a 14th century French knight that looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Mullet. Beard. Smells like horse shit, pine tar, and cigarette smoke.
Matt Damon while playing Odysseus who also looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Long, skinny beard. Smells like horseshit, pine tar, and perhaps Mediterranean herbs.
Matt Damon playing a 19th century cowboy that looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Mustache. Shaggy hair. Smells like horse shit, pine tar, and definitely chewing tobacco.
Every time Matt Damon takes on a period role he ends up looking like a third baseman for the Phillies.
Either 1) they read it and thought is was excellent or 2) they read it and thought it was bad but worth a shot. I am not sure which is worse
Generative AI can write you a below average grant proposal. congrats.
Yes, you can get generative AI to write your grant proposal for you.

Having integrity matters, and it should be condemned as shameful when someone willing sets it aside for career gain.
